I've been to quite a few beaches but none were any better than this one. The sand was smooth, the water was warm and the scenery was outstanding. One thing that would have caused a perfect score would have been if there was more to do. Like water sports, volleyball, something to keep your interest. Other than that, great experience. Oh the buffet was $20 a person. A little steep for island food. We decided to wait until we were back on our ship.

Thank Mark C

I went through Faenza tours and was promptly and smoothly picked up from the lobby of my hotel and transported by a little, clean mini van - along with a family of 4 and another couple from a different hotel - to the dock where we boarded a boat full of other various excursion tours for diving, snorkeling, etc.

The ship was small but not bumpy. Drinks were in small 6 oz cups but free-flowing and strong. We paused for a short 45 mins to snorkel and there weren't a huge amount of fish but the core was nice and I did see some small schools. They provide fins, gear, and basic life preservers. Luckily they were selling a few underwater cameras as well on board for 1k pesos (try and haggle!) and then we took another smaller motorboat to the actual island.

Lunch on the island was a simple BBQ with chicken or pork - I skipped the $15 USD upsell for the teeny lobsters they offered to grill. You have to wait for 90 mins or so for the food to be made so if you get hungry easily bring your own snacks.

Immediately once you embark, the masseuses/hairbraiders descend on you USA and pounce like the relentless flies seen all over the island (but repellent does nothing for either kind of pest). The little souvenir shop owner also will try and entice you with a free wooden necklace and invite you over. While the massage is good (only 35 mins, though) the gift shop is an utter rippoff. You can use credit cards for both but haggle first and pay 1/8 of whatever the souvenir seller says. They are all friendly but hungry for money. The massage can be talked down a little and is more reasonably priced.

After lunch you have about an hour more to nap, relax, snorkel, drink some more or haggle some more with the photographer who took your pictures earlier in the day. Cash only for a burned copy of a CD. Again, haggle, haggle, haggle! I had a pleasant time but there really wasn't anything special about this excursion. The beaches at Juan Dolio are nicer since there's more space and no flies. Also, the inability to escape the hawkers here is unfortunate. Further along there were more groups and their loud music as well.

On the way back were more drinks, and some dancing with the crew. It was a pleasant trip but I wouldn't go again. There are other excursions that I believe would be a better way to spend some time but it's nice to cross off the list.

Beautiful and serene island experience with snorkeling. Lunch bbq very good (lobster over priced and poor, wouldn't suggest buying it).

Loved being able to float in calm ocean for hours. Snorkeling experience was good, just wish I had brought my own equipment.

Victor our tour guide was exceptional. This VIP island has beautiful white sand and clear blue sea, perfect for snorkelling.

It was a fun beach day on the Island. Catalina island is off the coast near La Romana. We took a a boat to the private Island for a day of swimming, snorkeling, & fun in the sun. If you are prone to motion sickness the boat ride was about 40mins long and the sea was kind of rough. However, once you arrive on the Island there are lots of palm trees and chairs to sit and relax. The view for the day was truly amazing. There are a dozen huts with souvenirs for sale too.
