“Good for live music, but why eat Mexican food in DR?”

I went to see a music group here, and I loved it. The singer was well-known, so it required a ticket. The restaurant was good for this. There are other nights when they have live music, and so this is good.

As others have stated, the food is not that great and it's overpriced. If you are a tourist, remember--the DR is not Mexico. There is not much Mexican food in DR and it is usually terrible. This restaurant is actually better than average for DR. If you are a tourist from the US, you will find much better Mexican food back in your hometown where there are a lot more Mexicans than in DR.

So, unless you are going here for a great music show like I was, if you are a tourist, skip this Mexican restaurant and go get yourself some great Dominican food! I recommend the cafe at Hotel Conde en the Plaza de Colon.

One of the guides in the old city of Santo Domingo suggested we dine at La Cantina. We were very excited when walking in, because the atmosphere is very nice. We were also excited that tablets are used as menus.

Beyond the atmosphere, the menu, and the margarita, there is not much more excitement.

1. Our french fries came greasy and burnt. Some were edible and others seemed to have been refried more than once.
2. The shrimp on the Caesar salad was old and had a bad odor.
3. The hamburgers, while they look nice in the pictures, are small and do not fit the size of the large bun on which they are served.
4. The Caesar dressing is not very good and does not taste very much like a Caesar at all.

Despite the very disappointing food, the service was very good. The servers were apologetic for the less that appetizing dishes.

I wish we had found something better, but all experiences are good. This one taught me to try other restaurants if every in that area of Santo Domingo again.

The attention of the waiters is good and the presentation of the menu using tablet seems very new. I liked the decoration, but about mexico there is almost nothing on.

I found the food not good compared to the price, I ordered a "chimichanga" and the filling was very poor virtually no meat on it, practically just fried flour, my wife asked for a chicken with pineapple and was so bad that i ate almost all the dish, besides the amount of chiken that had the dish was very little, also the chiken was very, very, very burnt even had a bitter taste, the cheese on the plate had not any flavor.

Usually Mexican food it is served with many sauces, but here, they not give us any sauce. My account for two main courses, the cheapest on the menu, with no entrance, plus a water and soda was 1300 Dominicans pesos in U.S. dollars would be approx. USD$ 30.

If the owners of this place read this, my recommendation is that with each dish give for free at least two types of sauces and verifying the quantities of meat that it is on your dishes, plus change the supplier of cheese with one that has a product with more flavor, with respect to the price if you are going to have those try to give a more quality food.
