PG Waterfront Hotel & Suites

Courtney: "Um, Becky can like, you believe I found a hair on my bed??
Becky: "OMG courtneyyyy ewww I'm like so glad I brought the lysol spray, but like, what channel is Real Housewifes...?" (as she pops her orange bubble gum and twirls her hair leaving more hair to fall on her bed)

If you're like Becky or Courtney, this hotel is not for you - at least not now. If your'e an average traveler like me that likes a good deal and would prefer a good location, clean/comfortable rooms, courteous staff, and can forgo all the extras, then take advantage of the PG Waterfront.

The biggest thing this hotel has going for it right now is location, location, location! It sits right on the water at the foot of the bridge connecting Punta Gorda to Charlotte Harbor/Port Charlotte. You are withing walking distance of the historic downtown, the bay, and the convention center.

The staff is very nice and were very accommodating to me. My room was spacious, comfortable and very clean, so no, I did not find a hair on my bed "becky"!

There are no extras! This hotel is on it's way to becoming a Holiday Inn and currently has no gym, no pool, no restaurant - nothing, just you're room. Mine came with a microwave, minifridge, a working a/c, TV, a lumpy bed and plenty of pillows (yea, the bed was not the most comfortable). What more could you ask for $50 bucks!? Parking is free, continental breakfast is served in the morning in the lobby and the views around the back are beautiful. One day when they are finished with the renovation, these rates will be history.

Thank you Anthony and Forest for being accommodating with my schedule and being flexible with the late check outs and to all the staff who really seem to care and go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable during the renovation.

Second time staying here. Place is clean and I think the best value for the area. It's close to downtown. The hotel is still under renovation on one side. The pool is on the renovation side but nicely done with new pavers. Breakfast is included but just ok. Rooms are a good size.

We went to Punta Gorda for the Pirate Festival in July. The hotel rate was very good, the staff very accommodating and the location is very good. The hotel itself as has been reviewed many times is old and getting a facelift. Our personal room was large and very quiet. Older furnishings and clean. There seems to been an "old" scent to the rooms. The elevators are very old looking and beat up. The pool nice however you currently walk through the construction to get there. I hope the remodel is done soon and it will be a good place to stay. If you are a 4 or 5 star traveler, you will be unhappy. If you are easy to get along with and can overlook the age and construction, you will be ok here. We had a third floor park and water view room, we could open the curtains and enjoy a light bright room. The lower rooms that face the parking lot, not so good. Our friends had one of them.

Room Tip: Just request upper level, park and water views if possible.

The Punta Gorda Waterfront Hotel was awesome!! We arrived early, and the gentleman at the front desk was extremely courteous and accommodating, even though it was his first time at the front desk. He was able to find us a room, but not on the waterfront as reserved. The waterfront rooms were all under renovation; a fact that we were unaware of when we booked through Expedia.

We seemed to have to pool to ourselves most of the time, but we did meet some really nice guests there. We found a couple from 20 minutes north just having a short vacation because they love the place.

The room was very clean and very roomy! We did not make use of the maid service as we don't like people in our room when we are away. The bathroom was clean and up to date; no issues there.

The hotel was undergoing extensive renovations, but we didn't really care as it didn't affect us. The only thing was that you had to walk out the front doors to get to the pool. No biggie since it would have been the same distance if we walked through the hotel.

The purpose of our trip to Florida was to visit some gulf side communities for relocation purposes....after staying in Punta Gorda and experiencing the hospitality, we are sold! Punta Gorda will be our new home town!

I got into Punta Gorda very late the night before I was supposed to sign on my new house. Having no place to stay until the next day, I decided to stay at PG Waterfront Inn for the night. The prices were EXCELLENT given the amount of guests in our party (My family of 6, my cousin who was helping us move, and two dogs!) We were even given adjoining rooms that could be opened into one another. The hotel was spectacularly clean (even though there was some construction going on at the time) The hotel was tastefully decorated, and the beds were so comfortable. The hotel's grounds are small, but very pretty. There is a private walking beach with coconut palms and with gorgeous views of the Gulf, and just a few steps away there is a spectacularly beautiful bridge that crosses Punta Gorda into Port Charlotte. The bridge is always busy with people walking, jogging, biking and enjoying the views; not to mention how pretty Punta Gorda is in general. I would (and have) recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area. Also, Punta Gorda is a very short 30 min or so drive to Fort Myers and all of the surrounding Islands, so this would be a great place to stay and more economical if you don't mind a short drive on scenic Tamiami Trail.

Room Tip: Be mindful of the construction as they renovate. We didn't hear any noise, but there are some &q...

Hotel under construction...no restaurant, no pool bar, no nothing....do not waste your money...you cannot go by what it says on any of these "travel" site regarding the hotels...your best bet is to call the hotel directly and find out if the "amenities" that are listed really do exist...we stayed there May 22, 2013 and learned the hard way...never again will I trust any travel web site

This hotel is still undergoing extensive remodeling and will join the Holiday Inn chain. The staff was great, the room was clean, the conference room was passable, the breakfast was typical. It has a great location and should be really nice later this summer.
