“Short stay”
Reviewed March 22, 2008

We stayed only one night. Was suspicious because of the bad reviews it had gotten on 07. Stayed in main building of large complex. It appeared to be an older building that has undergone renovation, ie. relatively new paint, carpet, drapes, furniture. The minifrig and microwave were clean as I thought the whole hotel appeared to be. Service friendly in a very crowded, busy place. I was not overly impressed w/ the breakfast but was very adequate. Would not be afraid to recommend it to friends.

We stayed for a weekend in January to visit some friends. The front desk staff was helpful allowing us to check in early. Our room was on the top floor and we were able to see the bridges that span the Peace River.

The accomodation includes free continental breakfast but it was better than the average continental breakfast I had. It had a variety of juices. toasts & bagels, bacon or sausages, eggs, pancakes and variety of fruits and cereals. Even after breakfast hours, there is always tea, coffee and hot chocolate available.

The steakhouse on the hotel property was running a special for 16oz prime rib for only $10.99. It was a great bargain and the restaurant was quite busy. We tried it once and the food was decent.

The outdoor swimming pool is heated and offering a nice view of the river but the fitness room was not well equiped and some the machine was broken.

The lobby also had three very big photos of the hotel after Hurrican Charley in 2004 showing it was badly damaged. So they did a good job turning the place back into a hotel again.

This hotel is ideal for Skybus travelers going into Punta Gorda. It's less than 10 minutes from the Punta Gorda Airport, in a safe neighborhood, and less than an hour from great gulf beaches. The name "waterfront" is deceiving. Yes it's on the water, but there is not a beach there. It's more for fishing or walking. There is a very nice park adjacent to the hotel, which extends down the shore. Great for kids as it has a huge playground. Also, check out the VERY COOL cluster of tress directly to the side of the hotel. The hotel itself was ok. I stayed on the 4th floor and the hallway smelled like sewage for the 4 days I stayed there. However, the continental breakfast was nice and they had good service.

Booked the room thinking it would be at least worth a try. Got in late from my flight and couldn't find anyone at the front desk. Finally got to the room and it was locked from the inside. Had to go back to the lobby, find the front desk person who then insisted on retrying the key which did not work. Then she took 20 minutes to get me a new room. the steak restaurant is decent but the breakfast is inedible.

We needed a place to stay for a couple of nights while work was being done on our house which is only two blocks from the Best Western. Since we had been thinking about putting up relatives at this hotel we tried it our for ourselves. What a mistake !
On check-in we were NOT told that a live band would be playing right outside our room which overlooked the pool/harbor/Tiki bar.
The band played 4 hours of the most awfull and loud music I've ever heard.
We tried to change rooms but all 4 rooms available smelled very moldy. The glass slider to our balcony was very old, broken, shaky and wouldn't close properly. The noise was so loud we couldn't even watch TV.
The bed was worn out , no ice machine on our floor, drapes broken, balcony chairs too low to see over the solid wall, two chairs in room but the table was missing, door locks only worked sporatically, restaurant staff was surly, food was lousy, lots more........I think you get the picture. A bad experience all around. Don't go there !

My wife & I had our wedding reception in the restaurant associated with this hotel so felt it appropriate (convenient) to book a night at the hotel and stay in one of their honeymoon suites. It was a terrible mistake. Firstly, when we booked the suite (early in advance) we were informed we had our choice of the rooms so selected one with beach views - we were given a honeymoon suite overlooking the parking lot. The staff weren't accommodating or helpful in the slightest - me & my wife (in her wedding dress) waited patiently in the lobby while the guy checking us in found a shred of competency. When we got to our room we were totally underwhelmed. It wasn't clean or anywhere near as nice as we had expected. The icing on the cake was the following morning when we found a pair of somebody's shorts on the floor in the bedroom when we closed the bedroom door. That's plain sick! This hotel is disgusting and we would never stay at a Best Western again. Avoid at all costs!!!

We booked this hotel at the last minute. Someone in my husband's family was admitted to the hospital and this hotel was about 6 miles from the hospital. We found a decent rate on Expedia and after tax we paid about $103 for one nights stay. We booked the hotel on Friday the 10th and arrived around 5:00 pm on Saturday the 11th.

When we arrived at the hotel it was during a very intense thunderstorm (a tornado had been spotted just north of the area around the time we checked in). We did not have an umbrella and there was no covered parking. There was a small awning of sorts over the main entry door to the lobby but it was providing no shelter from the rain on this afternoon.

The young man behind the counter seemed oblivious to the fact that I was drenched and that my husband might also get drenched on his way from the parking lot to the lobby. I asked if he had a spare umbrella, a towel, a raincoat or even a large plastic bag and he just gave me a vacant look and stuttered, "No."

Check-in was fast (but wet!) We had a large room overlooking the parking lot. King size bed, small fridge, small microwave. The room service menu for Beneddettos (the restaurant attached to the hotel) looked promising but we had dinner plans with family at another restaurant later that evening.

The room was clean - the bathroom looked like it had been scrubbed down well (no mold in the shower). Thanks to our lovely view, I could see that there was quite a bit of activity at the restaurant even during the remainder of the downpour we had arrived in. As the sun was starting to set we noticed lots of fisherman arriving to settle in for the night.

We did spend an hour sitting out by the water after we returned from our late-night dinner with the family. There is a pretty outdoor bar along the back of the restaurant which faces the water. We stayed in the pool area but would definitely check the restaurant/outdoor bar out if we were in town again for leisure. The pool was large and there seemed to be ample seating for sunbathers.

The hotel met our needs and was comfortable but is certainly not a vacation destination for those looking for luxury or upscale decor. We were very unimpressed with service! About 15 minutes after we settled in to our room we got a call asking if we were happy with the room. My husband said it was ok but asked if we could have a water view. We got the, "oh, we are really booked up and the only view we have is located on the corner and is very limited," answer. We were ok with the parking lot view as we weren't there on vacation.
