I wanted to eat on the rooftop (fabulous view of the Peace River and Charlotte Harbor) but it was too windy that evening. I went down to the bar instead. Very nice, adjacent to the intimate dining room. That initial impression gets this place the second star. The food, however, was terrible. I had the Lobster Rangoons as an appetizer. They were described as being stuffed with lobster chunks and cream cheese. There was cream cheese alright, but not a hint of lobster taste. For an entree I decided on the NY strip (I was hungry). What I got was a tough piece of beef barely 5/8" thick. I thought I had stumbled into a Longhorn Steakhouse. The sides were good, but hardly made up for the lousy steak.
For dessert I tried the Tres Leches, which was described on the menu as "Delicious sponge cake, soaked in three different milks and a hint of spiced rum". What I got was something that tasted like a very stale doughnut in a sweet milk sauce, topped with what seemed like RedyWhip. No spiced rum flavor that I could discern. Blech.
Summing up, go to the rooftop, but eat elsewhere.
