“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2014

Birds galore! We got to see a frigate bird, which certainly is a rare site. I like the Idea that the area where all the pelicans are is open and other birds, such as herons and cranes can come and go as they please. Everyone we encountered that volunteers there was friendly, helpful and informative. The park depends on donations, so please be thoughtful enough to pay for your enjoyment!

“A Must See if you enjoy wildlife, especially birds.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2014

This is an incredible place to visit if you love wildlife as we do. Most of the birds in this outdoor facility have been injured - some will stay until they have fully recovered, others will spend the rest of their lives in this facility. But it is obvious how loved they all are by the staff. The stories of the birds are so interesting - make sure you take time to talk to the volunteers. My favorite is the yellow crowned heron that was born there - both parents are permanent residents of the facility. Yet the healthy now-grown "child" stays, wandering outside the cage to visit. We also saw a baby blue heron high in a nest right outside the facility. Make sure you are there for the feeding of the pelicans - a real highlight.

“Great place to visit when in the area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 17, 2014

Definitely worth going when in the area. They rehab birds and animals captured. It's free to enter but they ask for donations since they are funded only by donations they received. They have two bald eagles which were injured and won't be able to released back to the wild. Kids and adults alike anjoy it

“Beautiful Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2014

I wouldn't tell people to get off the highway and find this place. But I take all of our visitors here. The wildlife center is extremely interesting and the volunteers are so eager to share their knowledge. Folks get a really up-close view of many of Florida's water birds. No charge, but donations accepted. The park includes playground, picnic shelters, bathrooms, and the best sunset in the USA. Views of a variety of watercraft on the harbor.
Take the boardwalk through the mangroves and look for birds and fiddler crabs. It ends on a dock full of fishermen who are happy to chat and show off their catch.

“We Had So Little Time”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2014

But we were so glad we stopped. Loved seeing the birds up close that we admire from afar. They are well cared for and treated great…unlike some zoos. Nice volunteers/staff that help people out and try to educate you to appreciate the birds and want to protect the environment. Small and crowded but space is well used. Got a kick at the Night Heron sitting on the roof trying to sing to a cages Night Heron. Took some nice pictures and enjoyed the many varieties that are shown with pictures on the sign for easy identifying. We were happy to give a donation in lieu of admission. Right next to a great beach and close to Fisherman's Village,
