“Beautiful Location”

I wouldn't tell people to get off the highway and find this place. But I take all of our visitors here. The wildlife center is extremely interesting and the volunteers are so eager to share their knowledge. Folks get a really up-close view of many of Florida's water birds. No charge, but donations accepted. The park includes playground, picnic shelters, bathrooms, and the best sunset in the USA. Views of a variety of watercraft on the harbor.
Take the boardwalk through the mangroves and look for birds and fiddler crabs. It ends on a dock full of fishermen who are happy to chat and show off their catch.

“We Had So Little Time”
Reviewed January 7, 2014

But we were so glad we stopped. Loved seeing the birds up close that we admire from afar. They are well cared for and treated great…unlike some zoos. Nice volunteers/staff that help people out and try to educate you to appreciate the birds and want to protect the environment. Small and crowded but space is well used. Got a kick at the Night Heron sitting on the roof trying to sing to a cages Night Heron. Took some nice pictures and enjoyed the many varieties that are shown with pictures on the sign for easy identifying. We were happy to give a donation in lieu of admission. Right next to a great beach and close to Fisherman's Village,

“I Love the Wildlife Center!”
Reviewed January 4, 2014

The staff here are caring and very knowledgeable. Their vet writes the best column every week in the newspaper's Waterline Magazine. Love Luna the owl! Spend some time with and support these birds and wildlife. They will pay you back with enjoyment every time you visit.

“Bring the Family, Help Save (and Feed) the Birds!”
Reviewed December 26, 2013

Second visit to this little piece of wildlife refuge heaven. The volunteers are knowledgeable and very friendly. The kids will learn about Florida fowl and get to see, up close, what it takes to care for an injured bird. NO admission, just a suggested donation. All monies got to helping these fine people care for and feed the animals. Be sure to see Luna the white owl, Flat Stanley, the turtle with the deformed shell, and all the other wonder animals who would not be alive but for this center. Great way for a family to spend a couple of hours, be sure to walk the nature trail across the parking lot and look for all the little fiddler crabs in the mud.

“Peace River Wildlife Center”

After visiting Fisherman's Village in Punta Gorda drive 2 minutes down the road to this hidden gem... A non-profit facility dedicated to bird care and health. There is no admission fee but a donation is appreciated and after spending an hour there listening to the volunteers tell stories of the birds or watching a feeding, you'll be more than happy to drop some money in the bucket. Make sure to allow time to picnic at the park right outside the Wildlife Center.
