Description: FAILTE! [WELCOME!] The Celtic Ray Public House in downtown Punta Gorda opened in 1997 by Proprietor Kevin Doyle. At the time there wasn’t a single establishment in the area that offered a variety of quality imported beers and the atmosphere of a traditional Irish Pub. We serve only high-quality imported draught beers, bottled beers, ciders, fine wines, as well as, a selection of “soft” beverages. We also have expanded with the ‘other side’ and now have a full liquor bar! Our menu features traditional Irish Pub favorites made from fresh ingredients and family recipes. The Celtic Ray’s Fish & Chips are famous worldwide! See you at the Ray, Slainte!

They claim they have the best and we went last night with friends. My wife had the luncheon portion and I settled for the GENEROUS dinner size. They are the best as far as we are concerned. Icelandic Cod in a great batter. Fish was firm and flakey. Washed it down with a pint of Guinness. Pics all over the place of Irish pubs. We went to many several weeks ago but not the ones displayed. Maybe we need to go back to Ireland and find these pubs. A must visit in Punta Gorda!

Good selection of beer and an authentic pub atmosphere but the food is terrible.

We had a Cornish Pasty which was like cutting into a piece of shoe leather, and shepards pie which was mostly mashed potatoes.

With a couple of draft beers the bill was $40. Good place for a beer, but there are better places to eat within walking distance.

Went for the first time for our 10th anniversary. Had heard of the great food but always thought it was more a bar than restaurant. Food was phenominal! Service was cordial. Loved sitting outside in the glider table.

if you are looking for authentic irish food and service look to the celtic ray for your dining experience. the menu has such choices as mushy peas, bangers and mash and all sorts of other traditional fare. the bar has a huge awray of imported beer choices and the staff is just waiting to temp you with them. One of the best features of the rest. is the fact that you can order food right up till 1:30 in the am. There is live entertainment and no distractions from TV screens as there are none in building. Check it out.

We live in Florida and the "Ray" is THE best place for fish and chips. Believe me we have tried others all over town. Plus our wedding reception was at the Celtic Ray and it holds a special place in our hearts. This is what a traditional Irish Pub looks like--includes placing your order AT the bar. The only negative I would have to say is they don't play as much Irish music (when bands are not playing) as they used to. Kind of miss it. GR8 place Kevin!
