Description: FAILTE! [WELCOME!] The Celtic Ray Public House in downtown Punta Gorda opened in 1997 by Proprietor Kevin Doyle. At the time there wasn’t a single establishment in the area that offered a variety of quality imported beers and the atmosphere of a traditional Irish Pub. We serve only high-quality imported draught beers, bottled beers, ciders, fine wines, as well as, a selection of “soft” beverages. We also have expanded with the ‘other side’ and now have a full liquor bar! Our menu features traditional Irish Pub favorites made from fresh ingredients and family recipes. The Celtic Ray’s Fish & Chips are famous worldwide! See you at the Ray, Slainte!

Real Irish atmospere great food. I've had fish & chips in Great Britain. These are just as good. And they use Cod, not Haddock.

Just what you'd expect from an Irish pub. Fine pub food, a great selection of beers, live entertainment, friendly people. A nice patina without being tacky. Not a plastic fantastic imitation like so may "authentic" Irish pubs.

Dinner for two, a couple beers - 40 bucks.

Go.

Celtic Ray has recently enlarged its space and now has a full liquor license. I've been driving by this place for the past 2 years - always saying I want to sit in one of those cool cabana style tables out front. A friend told me they have the best fish and chips, so we finally went on Sunday night - sat outside and had fish and chips. They were good - nice and fresh, light beer batter, not greasy. Fries were typical. Good beer on tap. Good choice of wines.

They have a large outdoor space in back where there seems to be some kind of entertainment going on over weekends - always looks busy and 'happening'. A comfortable, any time place to go.

And, just across the street is one of Punta Gorda's crown jewels - Laishley Park, where you can go for a lovely walk along the harbor front.
