Description: FAILTE! [WELCOME!] The Celtic Ray Public House in downtown Punta Gorda opened in 1997 by Proprietor Kevin Doyle. At the time there wasn’t a single establishment in the area that offered a variety of quality imported beers and the atmosphere of a traditional Irish Pub. We serve only high-quality imported draught beers, bottled beers, ciders, fine wines, as well as, a selection of “soft” beverages. We also have expanded with the ‘other side’ and now have a full liquor bar! Our menu features traditional Irish Pub favorites made from fresh ingredients and family recipes.

The Celtic Ray’s Fish & Chips are famous worldwide! See you at the Ray, Slainte!

“Irish Pub in the heart of Punta Gorda”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 17, 2012

Celtic Ray has recently enlarged its space and now has a full liquor license. I've been driving by this place for the past 2 years - always saying I want to sit in one of those cool cabana style tables out front. A friend told me they have the best fish and chips, so we finally went on Sunday night - sat outside and had fish and chips. They were good - nice and fresh, light beer batter, not greasy. Fries were typical. Good beer on tap. Good choice of wines.

They have a large outdoor space in back where there seems to be some kind of entertainment going on over weekends - always looks busy and 'happening'. A comfortable, any time place to go.

And, just across the street is one of Punta Gorda's crown jewels - Laishley Park, where you can go for a lovely walk along the harbor front.

“AN AUTHENIC IRISH PUB”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2012

If you want to feel like you're in IRELAND, go to the Celtic Ray. Kevin Doyle, the authenic Irish owner, has brought a little piece of Ireland to downtown Punta Gorda. The food and tap beers (as well as the vinegar) are all authentic Irish fare. It's a delightful atmosphere, especially the newly opened addition which has an upstairs area that you must visit to see the surprises Kevin built into the space!!!
