“A must-visit beach for those travelling with pups!”
Reviewed July 9, 2014

It's difficult to find a good dog-friendly beach in Florida. And when you do, the beach is either very limited/small, close to a road, charges a fee to enter and/or park, etc.. So I was thoroughly impressed when visiting Walton Rocks Beach with my Pug and Brussels Griffon.

The beach is expansive and clean and set well away from the main road, so there is no worry about off-leash pets being in danger by cars. Parking is ample and free, and there are some facilities (typical beach bathrooms, doggie clean-up bags, and a spot to rinse off your pups after beach time). Most people do let their dogs run off-leash, so I would recommend this beach for dogs that play well with others. But it was not unusual to see some more rambunctious pups kept on leashes for safety. We went on a holiday weekend, so it was crowded, but since there is such a nice wide expanse of beach, everyone still had their own space.

Overall, a beautiful, clean and peaceful spot to spend a day with your pups.

“Beautiful dog beach, humans do not seem to be cleaning up after their 4 legged friends, had to sidestep many piles”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

Since bags are supplied, there is really no excuse for not cleaning up after your dogs. The dogs have a great time, hope the humans do not ruin it for them, last trip there, watched a large dog do its business and the owner, just kicked sand over it!

“Beautiful beach”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

Love how the dogs just run lose, it's great to watch them play in the surf as their owners smile and play with them. Beautiful beach that has somewhere to wash the pups off after they play and a restroom for us humans at well.

“dogs do run loose”
Reviewed March 11, 2014

The beaches of the Hutchinson Island off Port St Lucie area are expansive and readily accessible. We took our dogs to Walton because it was off leash and they needed to exercise. Since our dogs don’t play well with others, we took them on the beach on leashes, but once away from the other people and dogs, they played to their hearts content. Some owners did not keep a watch or control of their dogs, which made it difficult for those who do, but for off leash – it’s great.
