Hard to grasp the new concept at first, given so many trips to club med in my single days. Televisions in the room, driving ourselves in a rental car, purely speaking English all week rather than relying on high school and college French, open bar for adults without charge, and early nights with the children. That said this is a great place for families. The rooms are okay, with basic ones needing upgrades while the deluxe have already been. Then again you are there for activities , rarely returning to the rooms other than to sleep and clean up for dinner. So many activities for my eight and ten year old. Special kudos to trapeze and circus team, especially Brian and Hannah for investing the time building my daughters self confidence and gymnastic / trapeze skills. The mini club does a great job in almost every aspect. Remember that they are juggling many children with different temperaments, maturity level, and abilities. The sailing team with Chris and Travis does everything possible to teach the fundamentals on hobbies cats and their strong interpersonal skills shined through when folks drifted without wind, could not tack upwind to return to the beach, or insisted that they were too important to wait in line for a boat. tennis instruction was top notch. While the academy students were always on the courts, clay surfaces in the morning were reserved for lessons. These were real skills developing lessons rather than resort style time fillers. The coaches had extensive experience teaching and despite the numbers showing up for lessons they provided some individual teaching. As expected the food is very good. This is not gourmet food given they are serving buffet style for four hundred guests plus staff but certainly great service, quality, variety, and freshness. Those seeking perfect food should consider five star hotels, not club med. nickos and the food service team addressed any and all requests, from a picky rating child to my wife's birthday to the whining folks complaining to him about who knows what. The food is still as good as in earlier days, just updated to reflect more healthy choices , kids tastes, and even babies. Children shows were good. Cannot comment on other shoes and took the children to bed at 9:30. One last point. Security is strict and the facility has only two access points, not letting outsiders wander onto the property so the children are quite safe running around the property throughout the day. These days that is quite comforting

We visited Sandpiper Bay from Atlanta in October and enjoyed it so much we returned in February. The staff is absolutely incredible. Billy's circus team is truly amazing. An extremely talented and respectful group of young adults pouring their passion for the circus and trapeze into the visiting youth. They have a positive approach to each and every child and cater the experience to each child's abilities. The kids get a fabulous opportunity to enjoy a unique experience, led by great role models. And the confidence building of performing in a circus show - wow!
The tennis program is great - lots of opportunity to play with morning drills and afternoon round robins included in the package stay. And the individual extra instruction, with video analysis, is great as well.
I was skeptical of buffet style food being the main stay - but it's like no other buffet I've experienced- top quality preparation and fabulous choices - from super healthy to decadent deserts. Very pretty tropical foliage and easy access for paddle boarding right on the little beach.
It's the only experience of its kind I'm aware of within driving distance from Atlanta. A truly relaxing, all inclusive vacation. A place you can truly let your kids be kids without worry. The staff is incredibly accommodating - fabulous service. Already looking to plan our return trip :)

This is my first stay at a Club Med, and this particular Club Med is definitely past its prime. My biggest gripe by far is the lack of eco-awareness. STYROFOAM cups and bowls, and no recycling bins anywhere (thought that wouldn't take care of the styrofoam issue). This is inexcusable!! Rooms: Rooms are clean and decent size, and beds are comfortable. Amenities in the room are poor. Fridge is appreciated as is in room coffee maker. But, with an onsite L'Occitaine Spa, why are the bathroom amenities so crappy? Facilities: gym is not nearly as state-of-the-art as other hotels that are not trying to brand themselves as dedicated to fitness. It is also not clean (carpeting circa 1980)? Why isn't the lap pool closed to kids and dedicated to lap swimmers for at least 2 hours/day, once in the morning and once in the evening. There is another large pool for kids to play/splash. It's ridiculous to have only one dedicated lap lane in a LAP POOL. Food: you get what you'd expect from an all-inclusive. There are some healthy options and there is enough variety if you are a vegetarian.

Room Tip: If you are traveling without young kids, definitely request unit G or D, close to the adult pool and...

This was our family's 5th visit to Club Med Sandpiper Bay after having children and everytime we go they enjoy it more and more. The kids "mini club" and latitude 27 help so much with the kids throughout the day. My husband and I had time to play tennis, enjoy the scenic adult pool and never had to worry about our children knowing they were having a great time and most importantly were in safe hands with the G.O's. Our 3 sons enjoyed hanging out with Sid playing basketball, football etc. All the sports they would normally play back home but without all the snow ;) From our perspective if the kids are happy all day, were going to be more than happy all day, and that was just the case. We love watching the trapeze show and decades in the bar was fun as well! Excellent Food, Service and camaraderie shown by the whole G.O. team! Thanks David, we will see you all next year!

I had a wonderful stay, with my family, over the winter holiday break.
A highlight for me was definitely learning a trick on the trapeze! It was such a thrill when I made the catch! Thank you to the fabulous team who helped me to pull it all together: Brian, Hannah, Jacob, and Ben. You're the best Brian, and what an amazing team!
My daughter enjoyed her mini club experience and she had many wonderful caregivers there. Two of her favourites were Ted and Russell, both very caring and also a whole lot of fun!
We also loved hearing the drums and ukulele on the beach. A very fun backdrop for our sand castle building!
Thanks for the great experience David Meyer!

This place is in serious need of updating and more. I went a few years ago on tennis weekend and hated it. Rooms were old, food is typical buffet food, drinks are weak and cheap alcohol , entertainment was not good. I refused to go back but was recently convinced to try again. It only reconfirmed my reasons for not liking this place. They say the rooms have all been updated. That only means the linens and cushions have been replaced. Colors and decorating are just strange. Floors were gross, bathroom was old and full of ants. The food and drinks were exactly the same. At night the bar was just awful. Kids were everywhere in what should have been an adult environment and the "entertainment" was young kids not much older than mine with their shirts off in body paint dancing and "grinding". Girls on hanging hoola hoops and a really terrible band. If you have small kids that you want entertained all day by someone other than yourself and that is your only reason for a vacation then maybe you will like this but there is really no in between. None of the rooms I saw looked like the ones on website. I'm sure they exist but I never saw them. The spa is way overpriced too.

This is the third club med we have been to, we will probably just keep coming back here from now on! The sports facilities, and more importantly the coaching staff, are superb, certainly both for fitness/triathalon and tennis (a new carpet for the gym is the only improvement I cld think of). The food is stunning, and you can see the effort that has been made to influence the menu with input for the coaching team and their nutrition specialist (more green juices at breakfast maybe the only thing missing?)

The kids club is great, this is the first of the three we have been to that our daughter has gone to with a big smile on her face each morning. All of the staff without exception are friendly and helpful.

Although not on a beach the sandy beach is more than enough for young kids, and with four pools including a great kids pool and an adult-only pool with hottub there is more than enough on this front.

The rooms are the best of the three we have had at club med. referring to some other reviews, if you want brand new rooms with designer fittings then club med is probably not quite the holiday for you anyway. It is all the other stuff that makes club med great, and in particular this resort.

We cannot recommend it enough.
