“two nights of heaven”
Reviewed July 18, 2012

We spent two nights in June at the Cape San Blas Inn. We had a delightful ground floor room with a small private patio and direct access to the outside (where we could wash off beach sand). The owners were in town so we got to meet them as well as their friendly staff. Our room was very nice with a great bed and good shower.

Breakfasts were good sized...we had good omelets one day and a fantastic quiche another day. The breakfast room has a great view of the bay outside (through the trees and ferns.).

The Inn offers bikes, beach chairs, and beach towels free of charge. And the area is perfect for both biking and "beaching". Not crowded at all. Cape San Blas Inn also has a long boardwalk that leads out to a dock where there is a jetted hot tub...spent a lovely evening watching the moon rise from that spot.

The owner gave us good recommendations for a spot to get fresh out of the bay Apalachicola Gulf Oysters. And we were fortunate to meet their wonderful Wheaten Terrier (Rocky) who normally is in Atlanta but was "in residence' while we were there...so I got my lovable doggie fix.

Great location, marvleous innkeeper, and beautiful surroundings. This was our first visit to Cape San Blas since our honeymoon 30 years ago. The Cape is as beautiful as we remembered it and still relatively unknown. Wendy, the innkeeper, is very nice, warm, and welcoming. She genuinely wants to make sure that her guests are comfortable and well taken care of. She fixed a marvelous breakfast, including her famous apple fritters of which I had three helpings! There are plenty of free beach/hot tub towels, and (first come, first served) beach chairs, and bicycles. The hot tub is at the end of the dock overlooking the bay; beautiful at night for stare gazing.

We stayed in the Coquina Shell room, which is upstairs facing the street and has a sitting room and access to a shared balcony. The room was modern, quiet, clean, and well appointed. The ONLY complaint that I have is the lighting in the bathroom was not working correctly (switch problem).

I highly recommend the Cape San Blas Inn. Tell Wendy that you want the apple fritters. Just don't tell too many people about the cape or the inn - we don't want either to get too crowded.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back have screened porch; upper front rooms share a balcony.

We purchased a groupon for this inn and was pleasantly surprised. The pictures on the company website do not do this place justice. We absolutely loved our mini vacation. Not only was Wendy great, but everyone that we came in contact with on St. Joseph's Bay. The breakfast made by Wendy was delicious, the pizza we ordered from the trading post (across the street) was delicious as well. The beach was quiet and very enjoyable. It was a great escape from our day at Panama City Beach. I would highly recommend this inn to anyone who finds it (we kinda want to keep it a secret from our friends). We enjoyed our stay so much that we did not want to leave and are planning a return trip.

I received a Groupon for this bed and breakfast; this scared me at first because I thought it meant they were hurting for business. I was wrong. We stayed in a standard room (the Clam Shell). The room was very modern, and looked to have been updated recently. The rest of the property seemed to have the same feel. All of the options and furnishings were all top notch.

The property had many included amenities that we took advantage of. They provide guests with beach chairs (comfy and sturdy), bicycles (a little used and slightly rusty, but usable), canoes/kayaks for the Bay, and others. The shower in the Clam Room was spacious and very luxurious. The tv was nice, updated, and had many channels to choose from. My only complaint about the room was the bed. It is a SleepNumber bed that was in great working order. I just think I do not like those type of mattresses.

The breakfast every morning was FANTASTIC. It was also healthy and well-balanced. Everything we had (quiche, waffles, and the french toast) were home-made and delicious. The room was cleaned and organized every morning and the rest of the Inn was tidy, clean and grand.

We are already planning our next trip to this wonderful place.

Room Tip: Book early and try to get an upstairs room; it is a little more quiet.

Excellent weekend stay! Wendy the Innkeeper was one of a kind. Very quiet but a great location with access to both the bay and the beach. Met the owners who were a pleasure to talk with. There is a store located directly across the street where you can buy pretty much anything. Todd and his family run the store pay them a visit. The morning breakfast was not to be missed. My wife and I will visit again.

Nothing more I can say that hasn't been said. Loved this place! Because our LivingSocial voucher was for only one night, our stay here was regretfully short. We too thought very highly of Wendy, and her fabulous breakfast. Sadly, we only had one - but heard about the others! Wendy was also very accommodating, including when we asked where we could get ice. She arrived at our door almost immediately with a cute little ice bucket ready to go. Place was beautifully decorated, and a lovely view out the dining room windows to the bay. We agree with the others, unless you are familiar with a sleep number bed, nothing great. Certainly not a deal breaker here. The overall vacation area was quiet, almost remote compared to other beach resorts, but for people like us - suits us just fine. Unless you are renting one of the numerous beach house properties on the Cape, this is THE place to stay.

Room Tip: This is an inn remember, with a few rooms on the first and second floors. The first floor rooms are...

The Inn was very beautiful and clean. Despite the fact that they were full it was very quiet and relaxing.. We met several nice folks on the deck overlooking the bay and enjoyed ourselves tremendously. Biked and kayaked and chilled on the beach, Wendy outdid herself on the breakfasts. They were delicious with beautiful presentation.
Found a good seafood restaurant 8 miles down the road where we ate several times.
