“Great accidental stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2011

My wife and I had, on a whim, travelled to the Port Saint Joe area for a short overnight stress relief trip. When we arrived, all of the establishments we checked at were booked full. On a whim, we called the Inn and they had one room available. We were apprehensive at first because neither of us had stayed at a bed & breakfast prior to this time...so we were a little unsure of what to expect. On our arrival, the inn was very nice and the caretakers George and Betty were even nicer. They were very pleasant and provided us with a warm welcome and information we needed to make our stay more enjoyable. The were very knowledgeable about the area as well as local attractions and eateries. All in all, it was a very enjoyable first time experience and sure to be a repeat visit.

George and Betty make the Inn a warm pleasure: fresh made cookies in the afternoon, great breakfasts, hot tub at the end of the dock, free canoe and kayaks let you glide in the inlet wildlife reserve, one block walk to a beautiful 10 mile beach with white sand and torquoise water. The trading post across the street has everything you might need--dinner is 8 miles away at St. Joe's or 20 miles away a Appilachicolla, though, they have great seafood. Great find--we stayed an extra night..

I have never stayed at a bed and breakfast before this trip. Because we were celebrating our 24 wedding anniversary we were really taking a gamble. What if we hated it? The innkeepers George and Betty will make it difficult for us to stay anywhere else. The atmosphere was as if we were staying at an old friends house who really knows how to cook. From the time we checked in until the time we left our every need was taken care of. A bit off the beaten path but well worth it, and so relaxing.

Our second visit, we stayed longer this time. Innkeepers Betty and George serve a big gourmet breakfast, so bring your appetite. Good coffee, too. They also keep the most spotless inn we have ever seen, and their hospitality is endless. The Cape has pristine pure white sandy beaches with schools of dolphins playing just offshore. Great place all around!

The best bed and breakfast we have ever stayed at. We would stay again. The location is great. What makes this bed and breakfast is the inkeepers, George and Betty. They are very attentive to their guests needs and the breakfasts were the best we have ever had. Thank you for the wonderful stay - Mike and Robyn

This is a lovely little Inn with much to recommend it. But we chose the wrong guest room. The Scallop Shell is the smallest room in the house and difficult to navigate with it's overly large furniture and limited floor space. There is no place to sit in this cramped room other than one small wooden chair squeezed into the space by the door. And our bed was uncomfortable, so we didn't sleep well. The attached bathroom is also very tiny and difficult to use.

The pluses to this room are the private screened porch, private walkway to the hot tub on the dock and the fact that it has it's own refrigerator. (Since there is no ice made available for guests, this was an important plus to the room.) Also, there is a giant flat screen TV atop the armoire. The bathroom towels are large and luxurious and the toiletries supplied to guests are wonderful. I thought the lip balm was an extra special touch.

For us the negatives of this particular room outweighed the positives. We realized that any of the other rooms would have been a much better pick for us and would have made our stay more enjoyable. If they scaled down the furnishings in the Scallop Shell, it would be a much better space.

The rest of the Inn is great, with a large breakfast room, lots of windows, little sitting rooms downstairs and upstairs and wonderful views of the bay. And we appreciated the quiet location.

But the best part of the our stay was the amazing breakfast prepared by George and Betty. It was delicious and extensive! And the two of them are very warm and friendly people whom we enjoyed getting to know.

If we return to the Cape San Blas Inn, we will definitely chose another room because the rest of the Inn is great.

My wife and I just spent President's Day weekend and had a wonderful experience here. The facilities were great (sleep number beds, jacuzzi on the dock of the bay, bicycles, and canoes). The surrounding area is absolutely beautiful. The breakfast was delicious and looked like it was made by a gourmet chef for a magazine or cookbook. The hosts, George and Betty went above and beyond to make sure we were all squared away in every way. Getting to know you is a priority of theirs, as you are not simply a room number in this inn. They definitely made the experience memorable for the both of us.

If you like a nice, easy, and relaxed atmosphere, the Cape San Blas Inn is most definitely where you will want to visit.
