old ship....very 1980s feel. Good thing we had free boarding passes otherwise would've felt royally ripped off. Was unimpressed w/ staff. There were more ciggarettes flying off the boat into the Gulf than a bag of white rice. It was sad to see that staff didn't enforce not tossing ciggies overboard & fine those as a faded sign stated on lower deck. I almost got hit by a flying one & brought it to the attention of a staff member who wasn't too concerned & told me even the employees through there ciggarattes overboard. Then told me the US Coast Guard allows it in int'l waters. That made me irate. Only 1 roulette table!! Do yourself a favor & drive the 35 miles or so to the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa! More classier there!

“Old and pretty tired out ship and Very Tight Slots”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

The pros are the free drinks and apparently no taxes if you win. The cons are you are not likely to win. Plus; if you are a recreational gambler who likes to play the modern day slots, then you will be very, very disappointed. They have the oldest machines imaginable, no penny machines, no two-cent machines, only a few multiple denomination machines, and, since they are a stand alone casino, there are no big time jackpots. They show all of their big jackpot winners proudly with photos all over the place. But most of the "BIG" jackpot winners are for between $1,000 and $2,000, with a few up to $4,000.

Smoke was not that big of a problem because they keep the air conditioning cranked up. But it is a low budget operation from top to bottom, the boats are old clunkers and in shabby condition (no polished brass to be seen, not even the ships bell), and it is a full hour ride in each direction. I went to satisfy my curiosity, but would never return.

“Run down”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

I did not feel safe on the SunCruz boat. The people seemed shady. I felt trapped out there. Next time, I will go to a local casino.

“Noisy Ships.”
Reviewed July 25, 2012

Went out twice, twice got stranded out there in the Gulf. :( It was very disappointing both trips. The first trip the ship was smoking.

“Fun but smokey”
Reviewed July 18, 2012

We would enjoy going more often if it was not so smokey. The have $5 minimum limits for tables, most dealers are very pleasant. The 40 minute or so boat ferry is a great ride, especially near sunset.
