It's off of the beaten path. I enjoyed the quiet and the memories of those dinosaur parks. It is beautiful. You walk along and then a dinosaur will be there.

Sugar Mill Botanical Gardens is off the beaten path and feels like a world away. It's peaceful, shady and full of different types of plants, birds and butterflies. Nice leisurely stroll with plenty of benches spaced out just perfectly for birdwatching. It's free and operates off of donations. Husband and I stayed in St. Augustine, FL for a few days and made a day trip to Daytona. Found the gardens online and wanted to check it out. So glad we did! Bongoland dinosaurs and Dunlawton Sugar Factory were very interesting. There's no way I can post all of the pictures taken but know that this is a great place to unwind and to be in touch with nature. The vast variety of plants is simply awesome!

This is a relative standard botanical garden, but what is really a standout is the self-guided tour of the old sugar mill. The signs do a great describing how sugar is made, and what the equipment did. There are also some old dinosaur statues from the time this was Bongoland, a kitschy tourist-trap kind of place from the mid-1900s.

We enjoyed a relaxing walk thru the gardens. It was beautiful, but probably better in spring when flowers are in bloom. The dinosaur statutes are fun and located in the back of the park. You can also take a trail that shows what "old" Florida was like.
