“Excellent Italian option”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

Have eaten at Al's on two different trips to the area for the Gator Bowl in the past three years. Had takeout pizza the first year and a traditional plate of spaghetti and meatballs this time around. Both were outstanding and there were many other options on the menu I wanted to try as well. Though very busy (we visited on New Years Eve) service was great as well. Hope to be back!

“Very good food and reasonably priced”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

My daughter had an individual pepperioni pizza and I had a grilled chicken salad both were delicious and gave large portions. We were recommended this restaurant by our Segway guide. Unfortunately there are many restaurants in st augustine that are not very good so we were glad to have found this one.

“Decent and reasonable”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

Overall our experience was very good. The staff is friendly and service was fast. The restaurant was clean and we liked the two story design. They have a small bar upstairs and a couple of tv's showing the games. There were some college kids sitting at the bar. The noise level was perfect.

As for the pizza, we really enjoyed it. Not the best but definetly was good. Their prices are very reasonable also. We also ordered two salads and enjoyed them.

I would recommend this restaurant as a good stop with your family.

Love the pizza and salads. Service is very good. Always busy. Sometimes parking is a hassle but can park next door.

“St Augustine Al's.”
Reviewed December 5, 2012

Can't find an Al's St Aug page.

Absolutely as average as average comes. I stopped in to sample their pizza at lunch, with just a couple of slices with toppings, and I was not that impressed. Thin crust, cheese applied sparingly, and the toppings didn't seem cooked. I do understand that when you order an entire pizza/pie, it is tossed and baked from scratch, and when you order slices, the toppings are applied to a premade pie slice and then heated in the oven. Knowing this however, why did I wait ten minutes (no time at all I know--not the issue) and still get undercooked toppings?

The sauce and crust is what makes a pizza, and there is no crust on their pizza, and the sauce is either canned or just plain boring. I know a couple of slices of pizza isn't going to pay the rent, but first impressions and first tastes are what brings people back, and in a pizza place slices are essential!

Great service, well priced and a good stop for a quick bite, but they aren't going to give PizzaTime, Pizzalleys or the others a run for their money in my opinion. I will go back but not for pizza...ill try a pasta or appetizer and have a pint.
