“Happy Hour fun.”

Happy faces always come over to serve you. Great value for happy hour. They have the best fries I have ever had. Very busy. Locals also go here and you can see they feel at home. I have also had dinner here and the halibut was amazing, very light and tasty and fresh.

“Not as good as the other Matthews properties”

leaves a lot to be desired with service and food not as good as it once was. I was not impressed with the service or the food. It has changed quite a bit. Not bad but not great either.

“Exceptional Service and Great Drinks”

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday this week on Wednesday night. Had a great time. I would recommend reserving a table if you want to be seated in the dining room (no matter what night). I guess this is really important here. He didn't make one for us b/c he figured it was a Wed night and it shouldn't be too busy, but the hostess said they were booked, and she sat us at the chef's bar (which I didn't mind because it gave us a great view of the kitchen and all the action).

Ordered the French Pear martini (with NOLET'S Silver Dry Gin instead of vodka). So delicious. Champagne and Elderflower Liquor are amazing on their own, but with the gin, it was phenomenal.

Definitely order the Pistachio Crusted Salmon as the appetizer (so tasty). Had the grouper for my dinner, which was cooked perfectly. I wasn't crazy about the wild mushroom soup special (thought it should be more creamy instead of watery). And the dessert was so-so - it was the special peanut butter souffle. Definitely want to go back and try more.

“Warm, Inviting & Delicious”

We had called and were told that a dining room reservation should be made well in advance, but we could take a bar table on a first come first served basis, so we did. And it was the best decision we could have made. You can get everything from the dining room menu in the bar, the atmosphere is a little more laid back and perfect for people watching but still classy. If you get there early (6ish) and can get one of the padded booth tables you have scored one of the best seats in the house, comfy and a view of all the goings-on. The food is exceptional, you will have a difficult time deciding what to have, I suggest starting with appetizers, this will give you an idea of just how well executed the food is. We chose the Cambozola Stuffed Portobello and the Compressed Watermelon with Arugula, Ricotta Salata & Blood Orange Oil. Oh my goodness, we knew we had found a new favorite dining spot just for the starters. For dinner we chose Beef Tenderloin with Truffle Cheddar Risotto and Prime Rib with Brie Stuffed Potatoes. Again, just too delicious to describe, the flavors were sigh-provoking at each bite.
Our waitress was friendly, professional and so charming. Her suggestions for wines were spot on; the Can Blau and the Z’IVO Pinot Noir were perfect. A nice combo group started at 9pm and the place was hopping by then. The chef, David Medure came out and thanked us for coming. We are looking forward to trying out his brother’s place (Matthew’s) in San Marco sometime soon. This is a can’t-miss place for great dining in PVB, we will definately be back.

“Not the Medure We Knew”

It's been nine years since our last visit but a short trip to PVB and dinner with friends seemed like a perfect opportunity to renew the relationship. Sorry to say that it's not the Medure we remember nor the quality we're accustomed to from Matthew Medure. My wife and one of our friends had the gnocchi with truffle oil and gorgonzola. They resembled paste filled rocks with no hint at all of the truffle oil. If these were homemade as advertised, someone needs to be re-trained on how to make and prepare this dish.

Both of the guys opted for the fried Mayport shrimp with sweet corn grits, certain that with Matthew's ingenuity this wouldn't be standard shrimp and grits fare. How disappointed we both were to be presented with something that could barely pass muster at Captain D's. Even the Sriracha Aioli couldn't rescue the blandness and plainness of the batter.

The ambiance and feel of the restaurant is definitely classy and upscale and the service, while not outstanding, was still worthy of four stars. But, where it counts, Medure came up far short of the mark. It will probably be another nine years before we visit again, if ever.
