“TPC & Sawgrass Country Club”
Reviewed August 26, 2012 via mobile

Some of the reviews here are mistaking The Stadium course and TPC clubhouse for Sawgrass Country Club. Sawgrass Country Club is a private , member-owned club that allows a limited number of Sawgrass Marriott guests to play it's 27 holes. It was the site of the Players Championship before it moved across the street to its present location. The TPC at Sawgrass is a public facility owned and operated by the PGA Tour, Inc.

“Quick overnight stay in the villas”
Reviewed August 1, 2012

Passing through Jacksonville area on the way back from Orlando to Atlanta and we stayed one night in a villa at Sawgrass. Have to say overall that the resort is very nice - kind of a one stop shop with something for all members of a family or multi-ages traveling together. Main hotel is renovated, open, comfortable and welcoming. Large lobby with tons of places to sit, work, eat, people watch or just relax. Lobby overlooks lake, pool area and leads out to golf area - which we did not use. Plenty of dining options with all price points throughout the main resort area. Full service Starbucks onsight. VERY family friendly overall. Initially was concerned that it would not be kid-friendly but there were children everywhere and seemed to be welcome and catered to throughout the resort.

We did not see inside the hotel's main rooms as we had a villa. Agree with other posters who mention that a simple redo of mainly the bathroom area in the villa would make a 100% difference. Granite and cabinet replacement on the vanity and resealing/reglazing of what has to be a 1970s tub - would bring the entire room into par with the rest of the resort. That said - beds, linens, etc in the villa area are comfortable and updated. Was nice having an outside porch. VERY short walk to the main hotel area.

Did not use or go into the on-site spa area but think it would be an awesome activity for a girls weekend. Spa has it's own facility away from main hotel.

“2012 Summer Golf”
Reviewed July 30, 2012

There are three 9 hole courses at the Sawgrass Country Club(South, East, and West). We played the East and West a day after playing the Stadium course at TPC. Both were in great condition from tee to green. Honestly, they were in better shape than the Stadium course at TPC. I thought this was strange, but we played with some local residents that play both on a regular basis and the Country Club is known to be in better condition than the Stadium course. Can't compare the experience of playing the famous holes at TPC to the Country Club, but on our stay this past weekend the Country Club was nicer. If there is a better place to play golf, I want someone to tell me. Sawgrass is a golfer's paradise!!

“Typical country club service”
Reviewed July 30, 2012

The servers are all young and often don't know what they are doing. We eat here often (we are members). We never get a salad fork and unless you object, the servers will take the fork out of your salad or appetizer and expect you to use it for the main course. Food can be hit or miss - at our last meal, the bread in the bread basket was hard as a rock (pointed this out to the server), but the scallops were excellent and the Sawgrass burger is a never-fail staple.
