I was looking for a local hotel on the beach to relax and destress myself from a hard working week. So I searched the web and came across this jem. I booked for one night a ocean front view room 511. The views were awesome I was able to watch the sunrise and the sunset. Beachcomber is now my secret getaway to relax.

For years we have enjoyed coming from the Midwest to relax here. We have stayed in every type of room. The last few years we have made the reservations directly with the hotel as we have always done with the assumption that our request would be better met. Staying for a week we were told that they would make every effort to accommodate us for the upper floor ocean front room. This is the second year this has happened. After six hours of flights to arrive, we got to the hotel and were told the only room for us was on the second floor because we were staying so long.. Beachfront second floor was not the Dream vacation we had. The manager wa rude and uncooperative, he had no other suggestions until I asked about a junior suite. Very poor customer service. Then he told me the rate was $300 higher, but when I showed him my print out he was embarrassesd We will have to consider if we will ever return.

Room Tip: No advice. You get whatever they want to put you in when you arrive

We are very sorry and distressed to read Amkm57 recent review and appreciate this opportunity to offer our side of the story in this forum. It was certainly apparent that Amkm57 and her family had a long frustrating day of travel, so we were already behind the 8 ball when she arrived to check in, but it is important to go over all the facts about her reservations.

She initially made an 8 night reservation for arrival on 8/16 for an ocean view room with 2 double beds for 2 adults/2 children. She then called back later to add an additional night to arrive a day earlier (for 8/15) for the same type of room, same number of persons but we could not change the arrival date because we did not have the same room available for the entire stay, so she knew going in she would have to move rooms for her original reservation arriving on 8/16. Yes, Amkm57 made a request for a room on a high floor, which is exactly that, a request. When Amkm57 learned that her room would not be on a high floor, she became upset and demanding.

We only have 8 ocean front rooms with 2 double beds and these rooms have been in high demand all summer long. We only confirm the room type and number of beds which is what we did and we sent her 2 separate email confirmations which she had in hand at check in. We at no time confirmed the floor location or room number since it is nearly impossible to assure that we could deliver on that promise, which is exactly why we could not meet Amkm57’s demands and found ourselves in this scenario. Sorry, but when we cannot give someone exactly what they want (such as floor location or specific room number), we are then perceived as rude and not cooperative; even though we did have the correct room type and bed type reserved. Rest assured we do everything in our power to try to accommodate special requests, but sometimes we cannot, which again is why we they are requests and not confirmed.

Amkm57 wanted to try to combine the stay to avoid having to move, but that was not possible due to current occupancy and availability. We did have the room type and bedding that we confirmed, but it was not possible for us to honor her request for a high floor. This is when it things became a challenge. Since she knew the hotel, we explored different options such as a 1 bedroom ocean front suite, which would have been on the second floor, and she said she would like, but when we explained the rate on that suite was more money, she balked at that and said we should upgrade her at no charge. We also discussed the option for one of our Presidental Suites but that was also going to be more money, so she declined that option as well. Please note that the 1 bedroom ocean front suite would have been on the second floor, just as the ocean front room with 2 double beds that she was assigned but not acceptable to her. We never had a rate dispute about what she was quoted for her original reservation, however she had 2 different confirmations for her 2 stay segments and we needed to point that out, and when we did, she shortened the 8 night stay on the second segment to a 7 night stay, which she modified to a total 7 night stay during that conversation. There was no error or embarrassment on our part, but rather some confusion on Amkm57’s end.

After she declined our offer for a larger room at a higher price, we did discuss our ocean VIEW junior suite, which we did have at the same price as the ocean FRONT room with 2 double beds; the ocean view junior suite was on the 8th floor (which was a good thing because it met her needs to be in a high floor). At first we did not think this was a suitable option for her because she needed 2 double beds since her 2 daughters in their 20s where sharing the room with them and that would mean the daughters would have to share a queen sized pull out sleeper. However, Amkm57 looked at that room and decided to take that option for the same price we quoted for the ocean front room with 2 double beds (so another good thing, since this was going to be for the same price she expected to pay for the entire stay). Note that by opting for the ocean view junior suite, we were able to combine the stay and they avoided having to move.

When Amkm57 reserved, she indicated there would be 2 adults and 2 children, when in actuality it was 4 adults. It should be noted that as a goodwill gesture we waived the extra person charges which would have come to an additional $140 for the stay.

In summary, we did have the correct rooms that Amkm57 originally reserved but she insisted that they be on a higher floor, which was not available. We did not try to overcharge her, but rather we offered another higher priced option that she declined, and another option at the same price, on a high floor, but with 1 king bed and a pull out queen sleeper sofa that she accepted. We worked diligently with Amkm57 for over a half an hour to accommodate her demands, and waived $140 in extra person charges, yet we have been portrayed as rude. With all due respect, we did the best we could do with what we had available and were nothing but professional in this situation.

I live in Fort Lauderdale but prefer the beaches north of it as they seem to be less crowded overall. I stayed at this hotel for the weekend and found it to be very quaint and relaxing. There are plenty of staff around to assist with anything. The room had a rather large balcony with two lounge chairs that overlooked the pool and ocean. The hotel is situated very close to the surf so no hikes whatsoever. Great tiki bar as well.

Room Tip: Get a room close to the stairwell towards the east side of the hotel. That way its just a walk down...

I called the resort and booked with them directly for a king with queen pull out. It cost $138 per night, with tax, for ocean view as there are no ocean front rooms that can accomodate 5 people. The room was modern with a partial kitchen and BEAUTIFUL. The balcony overlooked the pool and ocean. It was absolutly breathtaking. The resort is set up well with elevators taking you right to the pool area and close walk to the beach. Towels available and chairs and umbrellas are avialable to rent at a VERY reasonable price. Laundry facitilies we outdated but in a convenient location. Everything was very nice and great location. I found the resort by recommendation from friends that live in the Fort Lauderdale area. I believe it is one of the best-especially for the price.

Room Tip: ask for room on upper level to get great views.

I will start by saying that the service we received at this location was top notch. Everyone that we interacted with was friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere that we encountered at the pools, beach, and bar was great. We loved that there were hammocks on the beach, as well as lounge areas and a dining area right in the sand under the palm trees!

We stayed in an ocean-view room. It wasn't so bad, except that I like to watch the sun rise from the balcony while sipping coffee, and the balcony was facing the wrong way for that. I was also not crazy about the lack of privacy from balcony to balcony. The ocean front rooms had private balconies that faced the ocean and with walls between them.

The rooms seemed to be a little outdated. The shower/tub was higher than the floor, so it was a bit dangerous stepping out. The hair dryer didn't work, and we got another one, but it was just placed on the bathroom counter, even though it was a wall unit (the non-working unit appeared to be direct-wired in the wall, so I was ok with that). Some of the numbers on the safe didn't work. The coffee pot didn't work - the carafe was too small and coffee poured all over the counter. The shower head at the beach didn't work, until I tightened the bolts on our second day there and got it working myself. And there was not a lot of noise reduction between rooms.

I think it's safe to say that we would stay here again, but would opt for an upgraded room. As long as we were by the pool, by the beach, or by the bar, it was quite a nice experience! Overall, the service was great, the atmosphere outside was great and the accommodations could use some TLC.

Room Tip: Opt for an ocean front room, if available.

The Beachcomber is a resort in a true meaning of the word, it's much more than just a hotel. The whole hotel area is built as a tropic oasis with swimming pools and great sand beaches.

The hotel has two swimming pools, a bigger pool next to the main hotel building and a smaller pool by the villas. There's a pool bar & restaurant by the bigger pool, and you can eat on the terrace by the pool area. There are two bigger bigger areas for sun bathers by the smaller pool and a smaller area by the bigger pool. It's easy to step down to the beach or go for a swim in the ocean from both pools. Sun loungers are free-of-charge at the pool are, but if you want one to the beach it costs a little extra. Pool towels are available from morning till 5 pm daily, the pool is otherwise open from "dawn to dusk".

The rooms at the hotel are nice and clean, and room service comes daily. The property is not brand new and shiny, but it is well maintained and and we found absolutely nothing to complain about recarding our accommodation. Our room was a "partial ocean view", but it was so high up on the main building that the views from our big furnished balcony were spectacular. Our room was equipped with a big (32"-ish) flatscreen-TV, coffee maker (and complementary coffee packs), fridge, on-suite adjustable cooling unit and a great King-size bed with. A USA Today newspaper was also delivered to us on several mornings without extra cost.

The resort is easy to find if you arrive with a car and there's ample parking space on two parking lots in front of the hotel, on both sides of the read. It's easy to go anywhere from this location by the A1A highway and you can get to I95 quickly if you need to go furhter.

Overall the Beachcomber is a great place to come and spend a relaxing beach vacation at, and I can recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy a relaxed athmosphere and great beaches. All of the hotel staff we met were professional, courteous and most importantly in a good mood all the time, which made us feel welcome and relaxed.

Had the Jr suite. Room is great and spacious only downfall is right in front of elevators which is good and bad. Bad for some noise at night if your light sleeper. Good because of the short walk. Now they have one ice machine for whole building so never got ice unless I went to bartender. They don't want you to take coolers to the beach. So you either put your stuff on the niehbors Beach side or you tell them the beach is public. Beside that price is hard to beat. The room is comfy and clean, with a decent makeover, a little musty but mostly in the hallways But bring your own pillows there hard as rocks. Place is close to great for prove, just a little silly on simple stuff.
