“Very good, at a good price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2011

Very nice hotel good price, near Fort Lauderdale. My husband and I, went 3 times. Not far from the highway, but nor far too from the beach. Large room and clean. Basic breadkfast, but free. Free Wifi too. We recommend it.

Room Tip: ask for a room with a view on the parking, instead of the highway.

Although the building is and lobby is impressive. This hotel leaves something to be desired. This is a converted hospital. There is no smoking or drinking allowed, but that did not bother my husband and me. We definately would not stay again for the following reasons. Our visit was 2 nights.
Undesireable things: No Shampoo in room (were told we would need to buy shampoo); no "level" surface in the bathroom on which to place toiletries; very, very small sink.

The electrical outlet in the bathroom did not work, so I could not use the hairdryer--the haridryer was bolted to the wall in the bath. When I called the front desk about the problem, I was told the electrical outlet would be repaired later in the the morning, but it was not repaired. I had to ask for a key to another vacant room to use the hairdryer there.

The metal frame on the bed stuck out about 10 inches from the side of the bed and if someone sat on the end of the bed, the entire mattress flipped up. The person at the front desk said the bed would be fixed in the morning, but it was not.

There was an iron in the room, but no ironing board.

The coffee pot was not cleaned during the daily room cleaning.

We were awakened at 4 a.m. with a fire alarm and instructed to leave the building. Most of the guests filed out of the building, but there was no emergency and no one to instruct people where to go. After standing outside for a while, we wandered to the front of the building where a man was holding the door to the lobby and apologizing and stating there was no fire. We were told later that someone tried to smoke and set off the alarm.

There was a continental breakfast which consisted of some bagels and muffins in plastic. The bagel was dry and tasteless. In the room where the continental breakfast was available there were numerous signs not to remove any food or drinks from that room--we did anyway.

It is too bad this hotel is not up to par. It looks nice from the outside and the lobby is nicely furnished. Needs better management.

If all you're looking for is a place to sleep, then I highly recommend this place. There are no amenities such as a pool or exercise room. The registration staff was very friendly and quite helpful. The room was small but clean. Although run by a religious organization (half of the hotel is a religious conference center and seminary) and there are religious/inspirational posters throughout, there was no other pressure. Although we did have to sign an agreement that there would be no smoking or drinking while in the hotel.

The complimentary breakfast was limited but adequate.

My husband and I stayed one night at The Forum for a business trip. We did not choose or book for ourselves, so I'm not sure on the exact pricing, but from what I gathered this hotel offers nice accommodations at a fair and relatively low price for the area.

The Forum is located within a large office complex as part of a mission organization called OneHope. The areas are decorated with children from around the world. The rooms are set up in a very dorm like set up. Once you step out of the elevator, a pair of secured doubled doors only opened with our key entry (probably to keep non guests out since it is a multi use facility). The lounge area is an open circle with couches, chairs, tables, desk area, computer, and printer (free use). The rooms border the circle. Our king size studio came with fridge and coffee maker. A large closet and vanity area in the room was nice as the bathroom was quite small and industrial looking. The toilets are like what you would see in a public restroom. There is so shampoo or lotions, just a bar of soap- so keep that in mind. The front desk offers many HBA items for sale if needed. The bed was very comfortable. A free continental breakfast was also included. Parking is free- which is very hard to come by in this area we came to discover. I could see a family quite comfortable here, and a great way to save some money- with no parking fees and lower nightly rates. The beach area was only a 5 minute drive or so away. Fort Lauderdale was about 15 minutes away. Service was friendly and courteous. The only complaint I really had was that the vanity area in the room was quite filthy and sticky as though it hadn't been wiped down in awhile.

I read so many bad reviews and was thinking this place was going to be awful. I came to check it out before booking a room and thought it looked great. I've stayed 5 nights and have to say it's the best hotel I've stayed in. Especially for the price!! The room and bathroom were extremely clean, the staff was extremely helpful and the place felt very safe.
You can stay on the beach in a crappy dump for more money or a decent hotel for hundred bucks more a night, or drive the 10 minutes and stay in a nice clean hotel! I will definitely be back! Thanks!!!

We had a great experience at this hotel. I read all the Trip Advisor reviews before booking at this hotel and was just a wee bit nervous, but all that concern disappeared after opening the door to our room. We stayed 7 days. Our room was large and the bathroom is a bit on the small side, but more than adequate for us. The room had central air and was comfortable for us, outside temperatures ran in the mid-80s. We had ample storage space for our stay and the room had a coffee maker, micro wave oven, a small refrigerator, small dining table, 2 chairs, 2 small built-in closets with a center mirror and six larger drawers, a larger six drawer dresser, two beside tables, 32in LCD t.v., DVD player and a ironing board and iron. All in all, it had everything we needed. There is a large central area outside the rooms with very comfy chairs and sofas and a computer connected to the Internet. (There is free wi-fi throughout the hotel...-big plus!) There's also a laundry room on the 3rd floor -$1.00 for washing and $1.00 for drying. There was free detergent available, (don't know if it was left by a guest or provided by the hotel.)The dryer took only one cycle to dry our clothes and we had to take them out before our time expired.

This hotel is an excellent deal for the area and the people (staff and guests were very pleasant.) We are not religious people and religion wasn't pushed on us. The hotel is just a few minutes off the freeway and there's a Wal-Mart close by where you can buy soda and other things prior to your cruise...if you're cruising. Fort Lauderdale's airport and seaport is a mere 10 miles away. During our stay we traveled as far as Key West, and spent a lot of time visiting Little Havana, Miami. Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale. Little Havana has the best Cuban food around for the price...less than $30 for two big meal at Versailles (an excellent restaurant in Little Havana.) Check-in time is 2:00 PM, but they gave us our room at 8:00 AM which was heaven sent ; -) after our red-eye flight from San Francisco. (Big + + + !) (Free parking, and did I mention free Internet.)

We arrived at The Forum Tues 4/12/11 after going on a whirlwind of a search for it. This would be one of the complaints that the hotel can't really change. The maps make it look like you can get to it right off the highway, but this is not the case. You must get off either an exit before it or after it on I-95 as it's between the two. BUT, once you find it, it's a gem! The front service staff were very friendly, giving us suggestions for dinner on the beach that night and then giving us better directions to the pier the following morning. The set-up was quite nice as we found out it used to be a rehabilitation hospital, there was a central sitting room kinda like a dorm, with comfortable couches and chairs, a big screen TV, gaming consoles, and several computer stations where you could plug in your laptop should you not have WI-FI. We had asked for a top floor when we booked, but were told when we checked in that a huge group had taken all the rooms up. Not only that but we were also told when we booked that we could have a king size bed, but this hotel only had queens or two double beds. This was more of an error through hotels.com, not the hotel itself. The beds were super comfortable, we sleep on a soft bed at home, and this was perhaps one of the best beds I've slept on while away from home. The other complaint comes into play with the throw pillows on top of the bed. They were filthy...lipstick stains or other markings were on all three. Other than that, the room and bathroom were very clean. There was a fridge, microwave, and coffee pot. With hotel prices sky-rocketing, for $65 including tax, this was definitely a place we'd stay at again.
