“Fabulous resort for all!”
Reviewed April 14, 2014

We stayed at the Whyndham Palm Aire and had a fabulous time. We had a group of 16 adults and 18 kids ranging in age from 1-13 and it was perfect for all. Staff was friendly, rooms were clean, grounds were very nice, the bar and cafe was great! Not far from beach and Intracoastal waterway which is perfect. Activities were great for all ages. The pools were clean, slide was fun, mini golf was perfect, basketball courts kept kids entertained, the playground was perfect for the little ones and the sand volleyball court was so much fun! Besides the sales people being totally relentless in trying to get you to listen to their pitch, which is the same at every Whyndham, it was a great vacation. We have learned how to dodge them and ignore:-) Highly recommend!

This resort is huge and at least 15 minutes from the beach (traffic greatly impacts travel time in the Fort Lauderdale area!). Since our focus was golf, we were quite pleased with the location and this resort's amenities. Debbie G., at the concierge desk, was simply outstanding in meeting our needs and helping us plan our days. We generally dislike Wyndham's attempt to get you to buy by cajoling you into attending an "update"; we capitulated to get the gift, but this time it was painless and we actually got an update with low-key selling. Unfortunately, the whole resort had trouble with the tv connection, and regular channels were "tiled" for 4 days. Our hvac system intermittently made screeching sounds, and maintenance could not find anything wrong. People tried to be helpful in these matters, but they were out of their control. Entertainment here was quite good, and we felt valued and welcomed by this outstanding staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a unit with the laundry in it rather than on the floor, although it is free either way. Bec...

Green Features: Recycling both encouraged and provided. Each unit has designated bags for recycling and each floor had a room into which you placed these bags. We were there for a week so we did our own towels.

Stayed here for 2 nights before recent cruise. The complex and grounds were all well kept. They had 2 different pool options, decent seating and a small little bar with adjoining store for food. Also, they had a little play area for kids, a volleyball court and small 18 hole mini golf course on site to help break up day.

We had a 2BR condo in the Areca Palm section. It was newly renovated, very spacious and clean. Defiantely on par with the Hilton Grand Vacation properties we have stayed at in Orlando. Each of the buildings offered a unique view and setting.

Property was nicely located near the main stretch (Atlantice Blvd) and major highways and a short drive to beach. By staying at Wyndham proprty you also had access to their other properties on ocean so we were able to park there and use beach / pools w/o paying the higher price. Overall a very nice property and definately would recommend for a short or long stay.

We are Hilton timeshare owners and were looking to see what Wyndam offers, no comparison Hilton resorts offer so much more, the staffs are friendlier, more accommodating and you can get something to eat after 6:00 pm, more actIvities for the kids, during the day, as well larger pools. Most Hilton's have large movie rooms where you can watch sporting events or movies for no charge! We were told that the presentation would take an hour, wound up almost 2, with a breakfast, cornbread muffin and yogurt, needless to say we are adding another week with Hilton, also took a tour of their beach property, not impressed either.

We were in FL for a wedding. We had 3 suites; one in the central, Fountain Palm building, two in the Sabal Palm tower. All three rooms had two bedrooms, a kitchen, dining area, living area and balcony. The Fountain room was the best, due to the balcony view of the central pool and away from traffic. One room's balcony in the Sabal tower faced traffic, the other did not have a view - the balcony railing was a concrete wall rather than wrought iron. I called guest services at 10:00 p.m. for coffee filters that were missing from our room. At 10:45 p.m. I gave up. I will say that the beds were VERY comfortable! Another of our party went to the bar on Friday night at 10:00 p.m. only to find it was closed. Elevators control access. Stairs are only available for guest going down. Sound from the hallway and from the floor above carried. Towels for the pool are provided in room but guests are charged if the towels are missing at check out (don't leave them at the pool). The pool areas are very nice with great sunning areas as well as a grill and picnic area. The game room was well stocked and activities outside were very popular (volleyball, ping pong and golf). However, getting into the poolside poker game was not easy. To play, guests must preregister the day before the event. Parking rules are not enforced equally. We were verified as guests given detailed instructions by the gate guard but another of our group wasn't told about needing a parking permit and were waved through at the gate before checking in. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Fountain Tower, facing center court.

We had a very interesting stay at the Wyndham Palm-Aire this past week. In a nutshell, our stay was not smooth, but the staff did a great job in making sure we were satisfied. The facility is beautiful, and my 2 year old had an absolute blast in the pools and the great playground area. I would recommend staying there, but I would caution you to be mindful of a few things. I'll outline the good and the bad below. Regardless of the negatives below, we already said we'd stay there again.

On the good side, the rooms were fantastic I say rooms, because I actually ended up staying in two different rooms. Both were very clean, and both had very comfortable furniture, including beds which was great. The facility is very secure, there was plenty of parking and the grounds were well maintained. The pools and recreational areas were excellent. It was very kid friendly, there were tons of things for a two year old to enjoy, and plenty of things for us older kids to enjoy as well.

I have a list of things that weren't so good, some of these will be unique to our traveling arrangements but some are universal concerns. First, a week before the vacation we got a notice that we could email if we had any special requests or needs. As I didn't want to bring a pack and play for my 2 year old to sleep in (he rolls too much to sleep on a big bed) I emailed and asked if they had one. I was replied to the next day and told that there would be one in my room waiting for me. There wasn't - I had to ask for it when I arrived, but I still received one. Still, why send a letter saying you can do that ahead of time if you're just going to have to do it when you arrive? This was a minor thing - but I felt it needed to be mentioned.

Next our location in the building turned out to be horrible. We didn't realize it at the time because they had a live DJ spinning songs until almost 10pm (on a Sunday night, ah, whatever it's vacation right?) The noise from the music masked the noise from the electrical closet our room was next to. Long story short, we requested to be moved and the request was granted. The staff were great about it. There was absolutely no way we were going to be able to sleep with the constant hum of whatever is in the electrical closet. I kind of picture management crossing their fingers every time one of those rooms gets rented - because the noise was very unreasonable. We got lucky - I'm sure if the hotel had been booked we'd have been out of luck. It bothers me that they squeezed rooms in right next to these electrical closets (there were rooms on the 3rd and 5th floors of the main building right next to these loud electrical rooms). If you get off the elevator and find your room near these closets consider marching right back down and asking to be moved before you unpack and put your kid down for the night.

The only other thing that was bad was that the cable TV and internet service was not working right while we were there. We called about it twice and were told it was a Comcast issue. I don't doubt this for a second, but it still kind of sucked at night to only be able to see a few channels clearly.

In the end we're already talking about staying there again, and now that we know what the experience is like we'll probably have a smoother transition.

Room Tip: Stay away from the electrical closets (right off the elevator). Main pool side view rooms are noisy...

This was our first visit here and will definitely stay again.
We were almost afraid to open the door to our room after reading other reviews. Even though we know we have to take some reviews with a grain of salt...To our surprise, it was absolutely beautiful!!! and by far the best place we have ever stayed at!!!

We had 3 bedrooms, full kitchen with granite counter-tops and was stocked with everything you would need in a kitchen (including a blender, corkscrew, coffeemaker with samples of coffee, water pitcher with 1 pkg of lemonade, plenty of cupboards and counter space to put your groceries) huge master bathroom with Jacuzzi tub, huge tile/glass shower and lots of vanity space. 2nd bedroom with attached bathroom and 3rd bedroom had pull out couch. The beds were all comfortable.

It has a patio door from the master bedroom, 2nd bedroom and living room that lead out to a 90 foot wrap around balcony!!!. It's a beautiful place to sit in the morning with a cup of coffee or anytime really. Table with 6 chairs. We were on 4th floor of the Areca bldg, room 462 which is a corner unit that faces the parking lot and street, in a building that was recently renovated. The morning and evening traffic can be a little loud but the rooms inside are pretty soundproof of outside noises. The pools were beautiful and whistler at the bar was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Everyone was very nice.

There is a "sister unit" right on Pompano Beach (about 15 minute drive from Wyndham Palm Aire). Free to park and use their facilities. Just have to bring your beach towels from the resort. There is a vendor that rents chairs, umbrellas and cabanas. 2 chairs and umbrella = $20/day. It's cheaper if you rent them by the week. The beach is beautiful. They have a deli to buy lunch foods and a tiki bar for adult beverages.

Room Tip: The Areca building was recently renovated and is beautiful! The pool is open until 11pm something to...
