Wonderful park on the bayou with an amazing 600 year old tree. Hidden playful statues in the gardens and a fascinating house to tour. The history of the house is very interesting and they have some remarkable furnishings.

At the time we visited it was $4 for the car to get in the park and another $4 per person to tour the house.

This was one of several parks we hiked in on a recent visit -- we had our dogs with us, and since most of the area beaches are not dog friendly (bummer!), we park-hopped to find nice areas to walk our dogs. It turned out really well -- nice, shady nature trails were relaxing and serene for us and our four-legged furry kids. This one was very beautiful. We couldn't go to the house or surrounding gardens as a wedding was taking place when we were there, but the nature trail was very nice!

Great old house and grounds that are now a state park and, therefore, now viewed as a place to have events. There's a "wedding tree" that does make for a perfect gathering place. A reception or event can also be held in the screened in cabana that has a bricked patio perfect for dancing or just sharing time with friends. The nearby bay and Spanish moss hanging from the live oaks will take you back in time.

And, even if you're not planning an event, a trip to the park and tour of the house will be an enjoyable day spent away from the hubbub of a beach vacation.

The Wesley House in Eden Gardens State Park is a wonderful place to tour. The house dates back to the 1800s and was owned by a saw mill owner. The property goes down to the bayou where the original sawmill was located. The owner built this huge house as he and his wife had 9 children. After sitting unused except for local children playing in it (no damage or destruction-just children playing) It was sold to a lady who had collected period furniture from around the world. She left it to the State of Florida with 3 conditions-The property would be maintained, it would be open to the public and the furnishings would never be sold or changed. The grounds are used throughout the year for weddings under 600 year old live oaks-what a wonderful place.

This historical site is great anytime of the year. It is great at Easter for a picnic, Easter egg hunt and more. At Christmas time each room is decorated by a different group, or group of people who love to help. All volunteers. Then there is open house for the event. A must see..
