Food: 9/10

Traditional southern cuisine. I've had co-workers drive 40 minutes to this place. The quality and taste of the food is amazing. Served buffet style, but a diverse menu is available too.

Breakfast: Eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, waffles, biscuits and gravy, etc.

Lunch/Dinner: catfish, fried chicken, green beans, grits, meatloaf, etc

Price: 8/10

10-13 dollars for the buffet.

Service: 7/10

During the week, breakfast service isn't too bad. Dinner has a 5-10 minute wait. Saturday Sundays are extremely busy during breakfast and lunch/dinner. Be prepared to wait up to 20-30 minutes for a table.

Once seated, you'll have a waitress take your drink order. At that time, you can simply go to the buffet to get what you want, or you can order from the menu. The quality of service is fairly average, with the waitress mainly refilling your drinks.

Overall: 9/10

From a local perspective, this place really brings in the people. It has a home-town feel that echos Plant City history. For out-of-towners who are unfamiliar with southern cooking, this is a great, friendly place to visit, but plan ahead.

“Good family food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 15, 2013

I was there with a group of nine, ages 3 to 80s. Everyone ate quite a bit and went away happy. Most of the offerings are quite southern, including greens, lima beans, grits, stewed tomatoes, and more, but for those who like stir-fry, the mixed veggies featuring summer squash was excellent. Macaroni and cheese, and the sweet corn casserole are nice. I didn't do meats or desserts, but both looked fine.

The restaurant's facility is nothing fancy, but everything looks well maintained, apart from stripes in the parking lot.

The restaurant is across the street from Paradise, the company that makes candied fruit for fruit cakes and such.

“Country buffet”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013

I was expecting quite a bit, since it got high ratings with Trip Advisor. The food was not bad, but I did not feel it was anything to rave about. It was crowded. There are few 'country home cooking' restaurants in the area. I don't usually love chain restaurants, but next time I will go to Cracker Barrel before I go there again.

“Best Veggies ...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 28, 2012

Have eaten at other Fred's but not in Plant City... The location is not the best but worth any inconvenience to get to the good food...and the place is rather smallish... but again good food and good service....
