Dropped in whilst looking for a quick bite to eat after visiting Busch Gardens, service was excellent, food was well cooked and was being replenished regularly.
Service was excellent.

Sunday brunch buffets are an iconic staple of Americana, and we were looking forward to our first ever vist to Buddy Freddy's, after hearing so much about it.
Disappointments:
#1. It's NOT a "brunch" buffet. They were removing the breakfast items, and replacing them with lunch items as we were being seated.
#2. Even though the food was obviously fresh, we found very few items to have any taste beyound "institutional" grade.
#3. As a food item tray is emptied, it's not necessarily refilled with that same item. Take your seconds on your first trip.

Pleasant Surprises:
#1. The "old-time-penny-candy-store" selections in the lobby area.

Unfortunately, a single pleasantry does little to erase the entire "incredibly average" (barely) overall experience.
A return visit?
Not when there are a LOT of other options with a LOT better food, at comparable prices.

For an optimal brunch go around 10:00 and by the time you finish breakfast with home made biscuits and gravy the array of pork chops, fried cat fish, and home cooked veggies will be plentifully supplied. There are a variety of desserts, but they are on the simple side and your taste buds may be better indulged with another piece of chicken.

We decided to try Buddy Freddy's at the last minute on a Sunday morning (11:00) but didn't really know what to expect. It is strictly buffet and the dinner offerings come out at 11am on Sundays, no breakfast foods anywhere, so no brunch.

It is a large restaurant with lots of tables and a few booths around the perimeter. They are very able to cater to large parties, a good thing if you have a big family or lots of friends and many tables were the large groups, but the noise volume was not bad. In fact, it was much better than would have been expected with so many large groups.

We found the wait staff pleasant enough, but other than drinks (extra charge) they don't have a lot of need to contact diners. The offerings are strictly buffet, with plenty of options, though the food was not particularly special. If I were blindfolded, it would have been difficult to differentiate between some of the options. The salad choices were adequate but not spectacular, grain "bacon bits" rather than real were very disappointing. Lots of options for dessert, but again, nothing spectacular.

The food is ordinary and the wait staff pleasant but not particularly outgoing. If you have a large group and need an accommodating place, this is it, but it is really nothing special. At least the parking lot is big and the surroundings pleasant.

Only someone that doesn't get out very often would compliment the food and service at Buddy Freddys. The food is often skinned over and bland tasting from sitting hours on end on the buffet, it becomes very mushy as most of it comes in frozen and canned. The service personnel are rude and obviously unhappy campers that work there. Even the cashier at the front door seems to have an attitude waiting on Americans. Anyone who finds this joint an establishment with good food is probably a regular at Taco Bell and Mcdonalds. This is an overpriced buffet compared to most . Lunch for 2 is $26.00. It would be overpriced @ $12.00 for two. One of Plant Citys worst restaurants by far.
