I have stayed at Fairfield Inns all over the country. The room we had here was smaller than any I have been in, and was a little crowded for my husband and me. The bathroom, however, was extremely spacious and upscale. We also had difficulty regulating the heat/air conditioning. More instruction would have been extremely helpful. Despite assurances from the staff, the front of the building was noisy, with traffic sounds. That was not a problem through the night, however.

We were quite content with the Wendy's next door for dinner. The staff there treated us very well.

The breakfast here was really excellent--the best I have seen of a "continental" breakfast. There was great variety, and plenty to choose from.

The staff was attentive, and the hotel seemed to be very clean.

Room Tip: See review.

If you are travelling to southwest Florida via Interstate 4 and want to avoid the congestion of Orlando stay here. Realitively new, very clean with a breakfast equal to or better than most "free breakfasts." Just off interstate 4, walk to Wendy's or ask the front desk for other restaurant suggestions within a few minutes drive. Will definitely stay here again.

Our family of 4 and my inlaws spent three nights at the Fairfield Inn, Plant City, FL. The purpose of the trip was to visit the new Legoland and Clearwater Marine Aquarium (home of Winter from Dolphin Tale). We used reward points for a free stay in a suite. Initially we had a regular room, but upon arrival we were told the queen rooms were sold out. We upgraded to a suite for extra points. However, we had a hard time believing the rooms were sold out by looking at the fairly empty parking lot.

The hotel and room were clean, though the air freshener in the room was overpowering when we entered each time. Our room was on the backside, away from the pool. One reviewer complained about trains/railroad tracks. The only time we heard a train was while we were awake at night. Once asleep, it never bothered us (we do run the fan at all times to drown out noises). The pull out couch made for a tight squeeze, but we didn't spend much time in the room anyways. We had a small fridge and microwave, a tv in the area with the desk and pull out couch, and another tv in the bedroom area. There was also a closet and luggage rack. The rooms had WiFi access which was easy to use with a password. There was also a small business center in the lobby with two computers and a printer.

There is an exercise room, but we didn't need to use it with all the walking we did! The pool was heated thankfully (December), giving our two kids an opportunity to burn off some extra energy from the power naps they took in the car. The hot tub was toasty as well. Towels were provided, and there was a grill on the pool deck. One complaint was that we could not get the one door to open with our room key, and had to enter through the dining area. I hated dripping across the carpet, and worried about slipping on the floor to the elevator.

Breakfast was decent-fresh fruit, make your own waffles, hard boiled eggs, Jimmy Dean sausgae biscuits, assortment of cereals/instant oatmeal, biscuits, gravy, muffins, bagels, fruit in containers, yogurt, juices, water, milk, coffee, tea, etc. As for anything to eat outside the hotel, there is nothing much at the exit other than a two gas stations, McDonald's, maybe a Wendy's. Most of the restaurants were at the exits before and after #25. The exit for Legoland was one back (heading towards Orlando), so that was convenient. There is a small "snackbar" available at the front desk for purchasing items.

The staff wasn't overly friendly during our stay. When I asked for more hot chocolate packs, the lady got it for me, but acted like it was a pain to do. The breakfast lady seemed like she didn't want to be there.

Bottom line, if you're looking for a clean, simple place to stay, then the Fairfield is a good option. If you're looking for outside amenities and recreation, then go somewhere else.

Room Tip: Stay on the front side if you're a light sleeper. There were a few trains that went by the back...
