As you drive from Cape Coral to Pine Island, you leave the mundane sameness of SW FL for the sweet quirkiness of Pine Island where the colorfully painted shops and cafes beckon.

It took some searching to find the Tarpon Lodge but once we did we were hooked. Sweet but smallish rooms, well priced for the location and the view! Classic old school Fl beach house design. Bathrooms are small but this is an old inn and I would forgive it just about anything because of its charm.

The restaurant has never disappointed and we have been there several times. The menu is small but well conceived with delicious specials . The staff is attentive.

There are fishing trips to be booked and sunsets to be watched.

Old world charm to be sure and worth the trip,

The trip to the restaurant on this historical site is worth the time
It may need to go there. In our case it takes every time one hour.
The restaurant has a real tropical atmosphere. You can imagine
how Florida was years ago. Go for lunch and you can enjoy walking
the beautiful surroundings. Go for early dinner then you can drive
back still in time to see the oldest post office in the US on your left side.
The food is always of a very good quality. We prefer the specials from
The Chef. The service is also quite good. There are some who serve
for years at the same place.
Go with your friends it's worthwhile, it's different from all the other
eateries in Cape Coral, Pine Island or Fort Myers.

We have no experience with the lodgings but as we heard from
people they like it.

Felt very comfortable there and enjoyed the beauty of the historic buildings and how well they were preserved. A lovely B&B that has been passed down to loving owners throughout the years. Loved docking my boat there ($50/night kind of steep) and had to launch at the adjacent Pine Island Marina for $15. The non-view room was clean, with adequate towels and bathroom products. The room was cool and the clean with a small refridgerator. I would suggest going at non peak times when it would be less crowded with less children. I would go back by myself or with others. A lovely escape. Bring your kayak if you are unfamiliar with the waters there.

Room tip: A room with a water view is not necessary as there are many places to enjoy the water on the property.

The Tarpon Lodge is a fabulous place to stay and we can not wait to return. This was our second visit. It is truly a hidden gem on Pine Island. Our room was on the second floor with a great view. No elevator is in this particular building but that was clearly disclosed. Had drinks by the pool-lovely service by the staff. Dinner in the restaurant was amazing. Nice wine, great entertainment. Front desk staff could not have been more helpful.

My wife and I stayed here one night for our anniversary. We will probably spend some more anniversaries here. Lodging and restaurant staff are very professional, friendly and courteous. When we checked into our room (Queen bed with water view) in the stilt house we found an awesome view awaiting us. There was a romantic postcard with a very touching hand written note on the back. My wife found it quite touching and it even brought a tear to her eye. Such a nice personal touch. Our server for dinner wished us a happy anniversary as she showed us to our table. Our meal was exceptional as was our whole experience. Thank you to all who made our stay such a wonderful memory.
