“too expensive”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

stayed there with wife and kid, on our way to North Captiva. However, did not like it. Mobile airco in the room. Very bad beds. Need to be replaced. And the place is supposed to be free of pets, though we found lot's of dog hairs in our room (my wife is alergic to dogs, she sensed immediately when arriving).
The breakfast is simple, but cosy.
Would stay again, but only after checking room for beds and doghairs. Too expensive however for what it is.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We truly value the comments and suggestions from our guests and we can assure you that our general manager has taken the appropriate steps to prevent future guests from having the same experience.

First, we checked the three beds in the room that you stayed in and have determined that one of the mattresses needs to be replaced. Thank you for pointing this out. We apologize for the uncomfortable sleep that you had a result.

We have a "no pets" policy here at Tarpon Lodge and have directed the housekeeping staff to look into the situation with the chairs in your room as well as the mattresses.

Once again, thank you for your feedback. We apologize that your expectations were not met with your stay. It is our goal for our guests to leave Tarpon Lodge with the best impression each and every time.

Found the Tarpon Lodge via google. At first no availability, office put me on a waiting list. Within 3 weeks Carol called with multiple room options . Two couples celebrating my husbands Big 50 stayed in "the boathouse" about 30 yards from pier. Amazing view! Fishing guides will pick you up at the marina. Spectacular menu! Chef will cook your catch of the day for fee.
Accommodations clean, cozy with nice art. Walking trail across street or stroll thru neighborhood. Small pool but your near many beaches. Friendly staff. Complimentary contential breakfast, with above average coffee, nice bar and restaurant. Indoor & outdoor dining.

We are sure glad to hear that google led you to us. Fishing Pine Island Sound, enjoying the waterfront view and a few days in our "Boathouse" sounds like a wonderful way to spend a weekend!

We can't wait until your husband books with us for your birthday celebration!

Superb service, delicious food, charming atmosphere...loved everything about Tarpon Lodge. We travel by boat and stop at many restaurants which offer service to boaters, but this place is our favorite. My family and I dined at Tarpon Lodge two months ago and we're still telling our friends how amazing our experience was here! The sunset was so breathtaking, too! You will completely enjoy your experience at this Tarpon Lodge!

Tarpon Lodge can be thought of as a superbly-appointed historic resort. The balcony views of our room (on the Island House building) were breathtaking vistas of Pine Island Sound.
The room itself had "double A/C" and an extremely comfortable queen size bed.

The Lodge offers charter boats- skiffs and center consoles- with some of the best capatins around, all this on private docks mere steps from our room. The docks accomodate private boaters who dine at their wonderful Restaurant and Bar.

Each of the days I fished, i enjoyed an excellent complmentary breakfast in the morning and a refreshing dip in the pool when my day was over.

Of additional note is the stupendous amouts of birdlife and eco-tour options at Tarpon Lodge.

This is a must-see, must-stay resort that works wonders from family fun-types to hardcore travelrs.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review that Trip Advisor members probably find very valuable - one that allows our potential guests to see what they can expect at Tarpon Lodge.

Our guests really appreciate that they can walk out to the docks to meet the fishing captain that they have chosen for the day or spend the day fishing or enjoying the local waters on their own boat.

We are glad that you enjoyed the complimentary light, morning snack for our overnight guests. It is available starting at 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. in the main dining room in the lodge. Our restaurant is open for lunch at 11:30 am and for dinner at 5:00 pm. For boaters who are not guests of the lodge but would like to join us for lunch or dinner, we are happy to provide dock space for them as well.

We look forward to seeing you again soon!

I've never stayed at the lodge, although I'm sure it is outstanding. My fiance and I always try to eat at the Tarpon dining room at least once while we're in Bokeelia because it is so, so good. The view is outstanding, the old rustic lodge is wonderful and the service is impeccable. It really can't get any better. You could spend a good amount on dinner, but you don't have to. And if you really want some great seafood at an affordable price, go for lunch, it's great! What's also fun about the place is you can get there by boat if you'd like, and the Caloosa Indian mounds are all around the lodge with an interpretive center right across the street. Great for some cultural exposure and bird watching. All around going to the Tarpon Lodge is a great experience every time.

This was my second or third trip to the Tarpon Lodge and it was as wonderful as I remember it. The historic lodge on Pine Island, Florida, is a great place to go for a quiet, relaxing weekend. Fun place to take your boat as there are docking facilities and lots of fun islands nearby to explore. The service is excellent! Because it is not a large facility and it is gamily-owned and managed, you will be treated more like a guest visiting a friend's home than a patron staying in a hotel. The rooms in the historic part of the lodge, with the beautiful old pine wood floors, are my favorite. It has the feel of a quaint B&B. Other members of my family stayed in the newer part and their rooms were carpeted and more like a hotel room. There are also two "boat house" rooms on the property where some of my family have stayed with young children and enjoyed it, as it is more like an efficiency. I have not seen those rooms. The restaurant is very good, the servers are very friendly, the pool is very nice. The grounds are beautiful and a great place to watch stunning sunsets.

Thank you for choosing Tarpon Lodge & Restaurant for your Memorial Weekend Getaway.

We can't thank you enough for your glowing review and appreciate the time you took to let the Trip Advisor members know about our Historic Lodge and Island House and what they can expect to find in each building.

We do have 22 units on the property and our staff thoroughly enjoys getting to know each one of our guests. We are glad to hear that we made you feel like a friend rather than a patron staying in a hotel. It is our goal to make all our guests feel that way.

March 2012, Attended a Wedding here, and it was amazing, the stay was such a wonderful experience. We stayed in the Historic Lodge, in one of just a few rooms located in the Main building. The decor was amazing, this place was amazing as the Wedding Of Matt & Isabellas was ever so beautiful. They married on the dock, the cocktail hour was out on the lawn under a tent, the food at the cocktail hour was so amazing. But the main course oh my goodness this was probably one of the best ever reception entrees ever.. We will be back to stay at another time for sure. The Island was beautiful, we also boarded a boat from the dock that took us to beautifulN.Captiva Island, a must see. Excellent experience.

Room Tip: Stay in the Historic Main Lodge.

We are not surprised to hear that you enjoyed Matt and Isabella's wedding. We have to agree! Their wedding was incredible. They included so many personal details - from their seating chart, to the pictures on the presentation box to the individual centerpieces. We really enjoyed the entertainment too. They are such a great couple and we were honored to be part of their special day!

We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay in one of the eight rooms in our historic lodge and thank you for letting us know about your experience. We hope to see you soon!
