My wife and I have been eating at the Tarpon Lodge Restaurant for many years now and have never been disappointed with the food or service. We recently went for dinner with my wife's uncle, who was visiting us from Germany, as the Lodge is a very special old Florida place.
We were seated in the main dining room with a nice view of Pine Island Sound. Our server Hayley took care of us immediately. She promptly explained the various chef specials and answered all of our questions. The bottle of wine we ordered was promptly delivered and expertly served, and she made sure that our glasses were topped off throughout the meal.
For starters, my wife and I opted for the crab cake sliders (the restaurant was known for its crab cake, which mysteriously disappeared from the menu several years ago... glad they're back), made with the local blue crab. Uncle opted for the crab and corn chowder (another house specialty). Everything was expertly prepared and absolutely delicious! We were off to a great start.
For entrees, Uncle and I ordered the Catch of the Day special (this is what I usually order... it's some of the best seafood in Florida), an almond crusted pan seared snapper served over rice with asparagus. My wife ordered the Mushroom Pappardelle. When the dishes arrived, the presentations were very nice, a harbinger of good things to come. And the food tasted even better! Another great meal at the restaurant. We asked to see the chef so we could offer our compliments. Hayley soon returned with Chef Ashley, who was gracious enough to stop by our table and chat for a while.
This is definitely the best restaurant on Pine Island, as well as one of the top restaurants in the Fort Myers/Cape Coral area. If you're in the neighborhood and want a great meal, definitely give it a try.
