“Relaxing Atmosphere”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

Great atmosphere, wonderful Ms Barbie (innkeeper)-a fantastic cook, will share stories on the history of the home. A good location (historic district), beach, restaurants, antique shops, and farmers market are all nearby. Price is reasonable, amenities are a nice touch and another plus was walking thru the front door after a long day at the beach and the downstairs filled with the aroma of brownies.

From our arrival Ms. Barbie made us feel at home and welcome. The location was easy to find and very centrality located for all of Pensacola. The breakfast was wonderful for each of the 3 days we where there. She provide local tourist information and was on call for special needs.

My husband and I stayed two nights at the Pensacola Victorian Bed & Breakfast in June 2013. The home is beautifully decorated. It is like stepping back in time. There is so much character in the house from the creaking floorboards and stairs to the skeleton key that opens your room’s door. The innkeeper Barbee was very pleasant and made us feel right at home. We stayed in Suzanne’s Room. The room was very large and could sleep three people. The bathroom was also very spacious and even had a ‘claw’ bathtub! There was a small TV in the room with cable and Wi-Fi throughout the house. Our room was just a little too cold for us, but there was an extra quilt provided in the room. Breakfast consisted of French toast on our first morning and scrambled eggs on the second morning. All was served with fruit and a few slices of bacon each morning. Water, snacks and sodas were available anytime in a small room off the dining room. This B & B is convenient to the beaches, downtown Pensacola and the Seville area. On Saturday mornings there is a Farmers Market just down the street. Wonderful place to stay.

This place was a great find. We stayed here for the weekend at a rate we would have paid for a hotel, but got so much more. The innkeeper was so warm & welcoming, ready to help w anything we needed, including picking a restaurant :) The fridge was stocked w cold beverages, there was hot coffee & tea, and most importantly fresh cake waiting for us in the downstairs, which includes 2 seating areas & tons of great books. The atmosphere was relaxing & comfortable. Also, the room was very large & had a flat screen tv. This is definitely a place I will recommend to friends.

A wonderful stay during a difficult time (attending a funeral), made all the better with Barbee being so welcome and congenial. We initially booked for both fri and sat eve through a hotel web based reservation site, and soon after were sadly contacted directely by Barbee to inform and appolgize that only friday was available (web update on availability not in sinc or a timing issue) to us. Well after what could have been an anoyance to some, we did understand that "things happen" and made arrangements at another location for sat eve. Barbee's sincerity and manner won me over and we had a wonderful stay and it all turned out good. We stayed in the Captains Room which was very comfortable and had a well appointed bath area within. Breakfast was very good as Barbee is an excellant hostess and cook. Great setting in an older section near downtown Pensacola, easily found off the interstate and and a very short drive to several great dining choices

Room Tip: The Captains room faces east so be sure to close the door to the bathroom and pull the shades or you...

My husband & I were the only guests at the B&B so it was like renting a whole house. Barbee was wonderful. The breakfast was great & because we were the only ones there, it was served on our time schedule. She spent some time talking with us & it was like visiting with an old friend. The only downside was that it is located right in town so it was a bit noisy. Also the TV was old & very small. Otherwise, the room was large & very clean and we enjoyed our stay very much. Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: There is one room without an en-suite bathroom as a previous reviewer mentioned. It is the cheapest...

The “Final Four,” days, that is. Our cross country road trip has sadly come to an end. This B&B has been delightful; although we weren’t too happy upon check in. When we went to our room we learned that the bath was not “en-suite.” It was said to be private, but it is situated in a public sitting area. Our reservation was for a queen room with an en-suite bathroom. I shared this with Barbie, the innkeeper, who seemed surprised that I thought my reservation included this amenity; so she asked to see my confirmation. After reviewing the document she agreed that my expectations were warranted, but that it was the internet reservation company that was to blame for the confusion. She offered to allow us to upgrade our room for a nominal fee (definitely reduced) as soon as another room became available, and we took her up on the offer; only because we don’t like parading through public areas in the middle of the night and in the morning to use the bathroom. In any case the furnishings and décor are lovely, the place is just charming. Breakfasts were very good: Scrambled eggs and bacon one day, French toast and bacon the next, followed by waffles w/a frittata accompaniment. Each day fresh fruit, cereal, coffee, juice, and milk were available, too. Another nice touch is the bottled water and soda offered to guests. I really like the place and the innkeeper. My only suggestion is that if you plan to stay here, call direct to reserve – that way you will know what you’re getting. Time to sign off for a while, we just kissed the kids and said goodbye until Christmas vacation. They are both moved into their dorms in Pensacola, and we’re preparing to fly home early in the morning.

Room Tip: The "Victoria" room is very small without an en-suite bath.
