By far the most upscale restaurant in Pensacola, Jackson's is our go-to place. The decor is tastefully elegnt and the wait staff is knowledgable and friendly. We have never had a bad meal there but certainly our loves our their favorite dishes -- the petit filet with lump crab meat and fried green tomatoes, the Chopped salad...While Jackson's is a steakhouse, you will seafood and other items that are just as good.

We have dined at Jackson's several times in the past year and all of our meals have been wonderful with the exception of one entrée. We enjoy the lovely dining room, creative menu and professional, attentive service. We have been very pleased with the signature cocktails and wines offered. Our most recent visit was during restaurant week and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The restaurant was full and a bit noisy. Each course was inventive, delicious and servings larger than we have found during restaurant weeks in other cities. While dining at Jacksons on Jazz Night last fall, my Delmonico steak was chewy and unappealing. However that was the only disappointing experience we have encountered and it definitely has not prevented us from revisiting this fabulous restaurant in the historic district of Pensacola.

Good location, charming building, overpriced bad food, untrained waiters. This place might be okay for lunch but a special dinner experience it is not.

The 4 of us were disappointed with our dishes:
- steak with mushrooms: "ok but steaks are better at McGuire"
- catch of the day Mahi Mahi with squash: the fish was tough and the squash pounded into a hard cake
- osso bucco: ok but drown in sauce with lots of grizzle and fat
- chewy fried green tomatoes
- bitter, burned eggplant slices with too strong dry basil spiced tomato sauce, overcooked shrimps
- vietnamese inspired scallops were the worse, for 17$: 2 overcooked, dry scallops, a handful of coriander with a sort of vinaigrette instead of the menu described aragula salad, no shitake mushroom though on the menu list, a few "chunks" of green onions, 3 mini, thin asparagus spears, 2 tasteless slices of cucumbers.

The deserts were exceptionally bad except for the creme brulee:
- the apple pie with ice cream was a thick uneatable gooey mess
- the chocolate mousse was overly sweet and the density of cement
- the cheese cake was uneaten as well

During rhe whole meal our waiter picked up the plates as soon as the last bite made it into a mouth, so every time the unfortunate eater was left chewing beningly in front of an empty spot. what should have been a pleasant experience with friends became a bit stressful .

we asked for coffee and herbal teas. the waiter came back with a selection of normal teas and upon questioning assured us those were herbal - after i went to the kitchen myself it turned out our waiter did not know what herbal tea is.

The restaurant closes at 10:00 but around 9:30 3 waiters stared to set up long tables for a future event moving tables around and making quite a racket- we were the only customers left in the backroom. The waiters ignored us completely. when we left we saw the same level of activity in the main room while people were still dining.

What a bad experience. One companion summarised it best: the company was the best part of the meal

Extensive menu. Very Good service. Great food. Nothing on the menu was "normal". Everything was embellished with new flavors and appetizing combinations. Dinners were presented as works of art.

We were staying close by and decided to make a special dinner for our wedding night at Jackson's. My husband had called to make reservations over a week in advance and let them know what special occasion it was. They had a special, intimate table for us and even brought us both a glass of champagne to the table without being asked. Our waiter was more than attentive.

The food was superb, wine and drinks were great. Absolutely nothing was overlooked during the meal. It was an intimate dinner and we will go back every year we can for our anniversary.
