My husband and I decided to try Paisano's after having a hard time deciding on what to have for dinner, and since an Italian coworker of mine suggested it, we gave it a shot, even though it's not on a side of town that we normally frequent. We were immediately impressed with the simple but tasteful decor, the marble tables, and the comfortable padded high-backed booths that afforded us a little privacy from the people behind us. The restaurant had a nice ambiance as far as that goes. I ordered the lasagna, and my husband had the sausage, pepper, and onion parmesan, both of which came with side salads and two garlic knots. We both enjoyed our dishes very much, but I did feel that the menu prices were a little bit high for Italian food and bordering on more than I care to pay for pasta. Our server Alice was very nice, prompt, and attentive. The major turn-off for me came after we had eaten our salads and garlic knots and just before our entrees were brought out. The man running the kitchen, whom I assumed to be the owner since he was cooking and seemed to be running the show, started to yell at one of the servers. The kitchen area is open to the dining area, so I'm sure that my husband and I weren't the only ones to hear it. The man yelled at the server to smile and said something about taking care of customers, and his tirade probably lasted 15-20 seconds. I couldn't see this happen but heard it all, and my husband could see the man yelling and getting agitated. He should have pulled the server aside and addressed his concern privately. If he was so concerned about customer service, then he should have been concerned that most of his customers could overhear his tantrum. The food was good, Alice was good, but the man in the kitchen ruined what could have been a wonderful dining experience by acting unprofessionally and treating an employee poorly in front of customers and all other staff members. I wouldn't be smiling either if I worked for someone who treated me this way. I will never voluntarily eat at this restaurant again, just because of this.
