We chose to visit this landmark on our trip to Pensacola Beach for the airshow. We had difficulty finding it because our Garmin didn't give us good directions. When we got to the entrance to the naval base the woman manning the post took her job WAY too serious and yelled at us for being in the wrong lane (even though the sign was covered up). The trip up and down the stairs is quite scary, especially when you pass someone going the other way. I would never take a small child. Once at the top, it is crowded due to the fact it is narrow and small. The view is great, but it's hard to take it all in when you're nervous about the lack of space. The history and artifacts inside the lighthouse are okay, but for the price of admission we weren't impressed. We also didn't care for being asked for a restoration donation right after paying for admission.
My wife said she wouldn't do this tour again, even if it was free.
