Owner description: The Best View in Town! Climb 177 steps up the historic Pensacola Lighthouse & Museum for one of the most beautiful views on the Gulf Coast. Built in 1859, the lighthouse is located on board NAS Pensacola. The top of the tower offers stunning views of Pensacola Pass (where Pensacola Bay meets the Gulf of Mexico), three forts, the Pensacola skyline and the historic Navy Yard. The fully restored Keepers' Quarters, built in 1869, is home to a museum and a gift shop. Visit this historic spot in America's First Settlement, established in 1559. Make a day of it and visit the National Naval Aviation Museum and Fort Barrancas while you're here. Our nature walk takes you to the white sands of beautiful quiet-water beach–a perfect beach for kids. Bring the family and a picnic lunch and stay a while. The Pensacola Lighthouse and museum is open 7 days/week. Special tours include Blue Angel practices, Light of the Moon and Ghost Hunts. Private tour and function times available as well.

Is it really haunted? I dunno! I had fun looking at all the artifacts and history. The view is spectacular and breath taking... And walking around the top was fun and windy :) It's just a quick walk down a trail to the beach/shore, nice view :)

A lot of people will warn you about the 177 stairs, but unless you're old/sick/fragile, it's a much ado about nothing. You'll huff and puff up the spiral staircase for a few minutes, but what will REALLY take your breath away is the view. GORGEOUS! Beach on one side, military base on the other. If you're lucky, you may even catch the Blue Angels practicing; they sometimes "buzz" the lighthouse on their way into land.

This is fun and the view from the top is fantastic. It is a very long climb not as tall as some we have done but a long way to the top.Staffed by some wonderful people and they are improving the grounds around the lighthouse. You can also walk down to the water .

We had a nice time seeing the museum in the keepers home and climbing to the top of the lighthouse. The view is great, and Lighthouses are alwyas a great visit...this one is no exception.

We had never visited a lighthouse so it was an interesting first for us. We climbed up about 150(?) steps in a spiral staircase to get to the top. Not for the faint of heart or those who are out of shape. You have to be REALLY careful, take it slow and hang on to the handrail. A fall would be disastrous. We were glad that we did not meet anyone coming down as we went up, as those who are coming down have "right of way" and those coming up are supposed to move to the inside which has NO handrail. The view and being able to see a lighthouse up close for the first time made the climb worthwhile. However, I would be hesitant to do it during busy season if there were a lot of people coming down as I went up.
