The guys at Shell Island made sure we were good to go with local navigation, safety, etc, and told us where the good spots were. We got a "premium" pontoon boat for 8 hrs for 5 people for $220. Sounds like a lot, but cheaper than a half day tour boat for for five people so we decided to drive ourselves, go where we wanted, and spend as much time as we liked. Well worth it, easy, safe, and fun! Highly recommended.

My family of four did the 2 hour Wave-runner tour. It was WONDERFUL. Our guide (I think his name was James) was super nice. He was very patient with us old, slower folks until we could get up to speed! Three of us had never driven these before but within 10 minutes he had us going full out. It was terrifying and exhilarating all at the same time. We came up on a pod of dolphins, including a baby. It was fun to get to just sit and watch them surface and explore around us. We had 7 Wave-runners in our tour plus James. We all got personal attention when/if we needed it. We made a stop right up on the beach at Shell island and went for a swim. We got caught in a lovely cooling rain for about 10 minutes on the way back. I at first thought 2 hours wouldn't be long enough, but it was perfect. Our booties and legs were tired after 2 hours like we'd been horseback riding!!

Perfect day. We would certainly do it again. We thought that prices were very reasonable as well.

Blue Dolphin Tour was the worst of any water sport tour we have ever done.

We spent about an hour on a boat looking and chasing after dolphins. Yes, we sighted dolphins alright but they were so elusive and never stayed in the same place more than a few seconds. The chance of swimming with the dolphin was nil. No wonder we were not put "in the water before the dolphins arrive". Snorkeling was no better. We spent only 10-15 minutes snorkeling and there was nothing much to see. There were a few patches of sea grass and hardly any sea creatures.

Please don't waste your money on this tour. The ads should have said "dolphin watching" instead of "swim with the dolphins".

Very friendly service and good pricing. We rented for a full day on a Monday and a half day on Thursday. We had a great time fishing from the pontoon boat and caught a snapper, a shark, and many other fish. I would rent from them in the future.

I rented this wonderful Crimson pontoon boat for the entire day on the 4th of July, 2015 for myself, girlfriend, daughter and her husband along with a Air Force guest of theirs. The size of the boat was 22-24' which gave us plenty of room for our stuff and coolers. The boat was very clean and the instructions given prior to taking the boat out were clear and presented well. The entire staff was incredibly nice and even helped us carry our stuff down to the boat from the car which blew me away. We motored out to just inside the sound to go out to the gulf and dropped anchor in beautiful clear blue water off Shell Island and snorkeled and just relaxed for hours. We then lifted anchor and went further back in the bay where we saw lots of boats anchored and enjoyed people watching and listening to all the music being played by all the other boats along with drooling over some of the other boats that pull up. I highly recommend Shell Island Boat Rentals & Tours. The staff on our return was amazing and helped us unload our stuff and were very friendly. First class operation here for sure. We will be back for sure!
