We booked a sunset cruise with Paradise at the last minute for Sept. 22. The first tour we had reserved cancelled 2 hours before sail time. We were in Panama City Beach just for the weekend and really wanted to do a sunset cruise Sunday evening - really, that was nearly our primary reason for our beach weekend. (long story about a special meaning behind Sept. 22 for us). Anyway, it had been a cloudy and/or rainy weekend and in spite of the weather, we were looking forward to a boat trip & so very glad when Paradise was still offering their cruise for Sun. night. Many thanks to the lady at the kiosk welcome center at Pier Park for recommending Paradise. We called them & reserved at 4:30 and were at the marina at 5:05 and boarded at 5:15. To see all the clouds it seemed crazy to be going out, but there were a few other people as well. Captain Joe was great and so were the crew mates. Price was very reasonable and included a drink for each of us. It was wonderful to get away and just relax and enjoy the cruise. How often do we get to see such incredible cloud shapes instead of a gorgeous blue sky? Captain Joe couldn't take the catamaran into the Gulf because of the waves, but that was okay, we got to St. Andrews State Park and Shell Island and enjoyed the scenery and the waves and the 10 min. showing of the sun and then explored the bay. Not much of a sunset, a few pink colors in between the clouds, and oh, yes, we did see dolphins shortly after leaving the marina. It actually did rain for about 15 min. while we were out, but we could stay dry beside the bar, and it didn't last. Capt. Joe & the crew got the seats dried off in no time, so back on deck we went. So it wasn't the typical beautiful day, awesome sunset and many dolphins, but it was still totally enjoyable & it meant a great deal to us to be able to take this 2 hour cruise on the 22nd. Thanks Captain Joe! Hope to go again on a sunny day our next PCB trip!
