Our first visit to Wicked Wheel won't be our last, in fact, we might become regular customers. It didn't seem like the typical PCB local pub and grill with old salty types sitting around a bar nursing their 15th beer of the day... although it could be. But I envision it as more of a place where the local biker community (H.O.G. Chapter maybe, didn't seem like the 1%er hangout) comes in for a beer and just some good, GOOD food.
It's off season though, so only a few tables had customers. Often that results in sub-par food and service in other restaurants in the area (I won't mention any by name but I'll point towards the Pier Park direction).
Great decor, whether you're a biker or just want a nice place to eat. There's a couple of bikes on the floor for drooling over... a "Gucci-glide" if you're into that whole elongated fat tire OC Chopper look, and a VRSC, a sweet T-Bucket style hot rod on the wall, and the bar stools are actually the back ends of real Harleys. Interesting.
What made the meal was that the menu looks to have so much variety that most anyone can find something they like, and the prices were better than you'd get at say... a Cracker Barrel.
The reason I mention Cracker Barrel is because, for $8.50 I had two huge pieces of fresh out of the cooker country fried steak that had a great, peppery flavor, was tender, and the breading was crisp, not greasy. Mashed potatoes and gravy, and an extra side of collard greens. (I was in the mood for that kind of meal, I could have had anything from wings to burgers to fish or chicken... or most anything in between.)
Service by Britani (our server), the hostess, and kitchen staff was timely enough to keep our drinks filled and food ordered and brought out hot, but not interrupting at all.
My wife had their famous fried chicken, which I tried, very tasty.
It was all good. We had more delicious food than we could eat, and I had a Guiness and the meal was only $26 before a tip.
Comfort food, great service, entertaining decor and theme that went to almost Disney-esque extremes all for a price that can't be touched for the quality of the food anywhere I know of in PCB.
Eat here! Take the kids, bring your friends, you'll enjoy it.
