Moondrifter Condominiums
Reviewed April 19, 2012

We stayed at moondrifter during the hurricane in September 2011. We were going to cancel our trip since we knew it was going to be raining and storming, but I called and spoke with the staff and they said since the hurricane wasn't going to be a direct hit, they couldn't refund all our money. We had already paid about 80% of our stay so we decided to go. I'm glad we did!
We were able to experience the beach in an environment most people don't get to see...it was pretty awesome to watch the storms roll across the ocean, and the waves were the highest I have ever seen. My kids got in beach time, and they didn't get sunburned because it was gray skies. We were next door to the club but it was a very quiet time for them. At night we could hear the music, but nothing that prevented us from sleeping. The beach was BEAUTIFUL! We were on the very top condo on the front facing the ocean. We could lie in bed and leave the curtains open on the sliding glass doors and see the ocean from the bed. It was amazing to wake up to that view! The downside to our condo - there was no ladder to the bunk beds, they were built into the wall, and it was difficult to get either one of my kids up there because if they needed to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night they couldn't get down, or back up there, so they slept on the couch. The couch had a sleeper sofa, but we all know those are miserable, so we pushed the couch and loveseat together, and my 9 yr old took the couch and my 5 yr old had the love seat, and they never had a complaint. The bunk beds are IMMEDIATELY outside the door, so no hanky panky if your kids are going to be sleeping right outside your door...The sliding doors in the bedroom leaked, so the carpet was wet for about a foot into the bedroom, but it was coming a hurricane! So who can really complain about that...Patio furniture was nice, good location, pizza place will deliver, and our unit was very clean! The price was a little steap as we booked online at priceline I think? and we were not aware there was a cleaning fee that wasn't added in to the price, so that was a struggle as we were on a budget and thought it fit. I can't say it's worth the steep price they charge...we would consider staying here if all those fee's weren't added on.

Room Tip: ask for the top unit on the front facing the ocean!

We were in Condo 804 across from Club LaVella. We were there April 2012. Beach view beautiful. Condo was clean. It needed minor repairs. Patio furniture was rusting (accident waiting to happen). To many fees tacked on to the room charge. Cleaning fee $90.00, Waiver fee $45.00, Registration fee $15.00. Music from Club LaVella loud (Spring Break).

The condo was exactly like the pictures. Our balcony view was great and it did face the famous Club Lavela. Although it was loud when they had event it was entertaining and did not bother us at all. Don't forget to buy toilet paper and cleaning supplies. Having a washer and dryer was a great asset. This was a family vacation with teenagers and I would recommend this condo to couples or families. Andrea is was a great renter!

Room Tip: Rent from Andrea or someone that she may refer!

I thought this was a great getaway...keep in mind, these condos are privately owned and then rented out, this isn't the Ritz Carlton, and you're not going to get a mint on your pillow and room service, but knowing that, just enjoy the sand the sun and the beach, that's what you're here for anyway. Especially 3 teenage boys, they don't care what the furniture looks like, and also, it didn't smell funny. I was VERY pleased with the unit we got, very roomy, kitchen had been recently updated, and although you have a hodgepodge of used furniture in each room, and mismatched dishes, so what? There's a TON of things to do down here OUTSIDE. Get out, have fun!! I would bring my family here again.

We stayed in 501. Itwas the farthest from Club La Vela and you couldnt here the Music at all. The view was great andeverything was super clean.

Room Tip: Try to get one of the rooms ending in 1 they are farthest from the club and have a bigger balcony.

We stayed in Room 506. We arrived and the room was filthy. There was trash all over the floor from the previous renters. There was food left in the oven. There were dishes in the cabinets that had not been washed. The floor was filthy. The showers had mildew all in them. Pubic hairs on the toilet. Sand was on the master bed with what also appeared appeared to be someones DNA on the comforter.(White spots all over the comforter). The stove top had not been cleaned. The master bed room does not have a light switch, you have to turn the light on and off at the ceiling fan switch. There were no remotes for the TV's. The sliding glass door on the balcony will not lock as the lock is broken. The furniture in the house is old and filthy. The bar stools have been taped up with tape. The arms on the sofa were filthy and smelled like soured milk. We called the owner and he did immedilately send a cleaning person out. She stated that the cleaning lady was pregnant and was having a hard time. She did clean some. We told her about the stains on the comforter and she told us that they do not wash the comforters but only wash the sheets. After she left, she did an minimal job job. My wife went out and purchased some cleaning materials and finished up the cleaning. She washed the comforter so that we did not have to sleep on someone's DNA. The owner did bring us 2 remotes the next day with no batteries. He also gave us a $50.00 Gift Card. The door was not repaired so that it would lock. I realize that it would be difficult to get in the door on the 5th floor but it would not be impossible to drop down from the floor above and open in. My wife was worried to leave anything in the room as the door would not lock. Also, there were several light bulbs out and missing. The ootside of the buliding needs some work. The elevetors were out for a short time and we had to use the stairs.
Pros - Not many. Good beach view. Convenient parking. Close to all attractions.

We will not be back here. We do not recommend it.

Our Gulf view was more of their pool and La Vela club ..When we got there LOTS of things did not work (toilet , lights etc). I do not understand why they offer "the Gulf View" and put you on the first floor where you cannot see the Gulf at all. I am highly dissapointed !! Next tiime just stay at The Summit next door..much better!!!
