OK, let me start off by saying we usually like more upscale restaurants . . . Dined at Firefly the night before but also wanted to change it up a little, so we tried Dee's based on the good reviews here. Dee's Hangout is in a strip shopping center next to Pompano's, where we've dined many times before. No need to dress up, it's definitely a plain restaurant but the servers are friendly and everyone seemed to be enjoying their drinks and meals. Prices are very reasonable. We had the crabcake appetizer, which was the priciest on menu. 2 large crabcakes, crispy brown on outside, nicely seasoned with lots of crab but also some filler. Very tasty, especially with the scallions and remoulade drizzled on plate. Then we indulged in a special, Grilled Grouper with Grecian Salsa and feta cheese - rather a nice meal for such a hole in the wall! The grouper was very fresh and grilled to perfection, with a fresh topping of chopped olives, peppers, onions and feta - yum! Enjoyed the side of sweet potato fries but was a little disappointed with soft fried zucchini. Ordered a 1/2 loaf of French bread and butter, but didn't need it with the 2 tasty but greasy hushpuppies that accompanied the entree. We split everything, plenty for two so we passed on dessert. Saw other diners enjoying oysters (raw or baked), etouffee, tasty looking oyster po-boy, etc. Will probably return on next beach trip.
