Excellent twist to a beach trip. Take the shuttle from St. Andrews Park or by private boat to shell island. Beautiful water and pristine sand. Watch the dolphins and relax on the beach front or snorkel on the beach or bay side. Highly recommend the trip over for a few hours.

Shell Island was a beautiful sight and a unique place but its a lot of walking in the sand kids were exhausted the water was very stirred up from a storm so on our visit it was not as clear and we didnt see any Dolphins but thats just nature .

We paid like $19 each for the shuttle ferry over to shell Island which wasn't horribly bad. The shuttle ran like every 15-30 minutes so it was nice to be on our own schedule. We were there during the torrential rain so the water was really churned up and brown and maybe that was part of the bummer. It was a long hike to the beach area after we were dropped off so do not drag a lot of stuff with you. There are no restrooms so take care of business before you go and take shade, you will need it. The kids went snorkeling and everyone came up with some neat shells. If you don't snorkel, you probably won't be finding many. We went because everyone said

There are no bathrooms on shell island. Scenery is gorgeous and it's worth the trip. Definitely go before you go!!!

As with anything regarding natural parks, it depends on the day you go.The day we went we didn't see much of anything. The tide was strong and there was no visibility (for snorkeling) and no shells. This potentially could be an expensive trip - Admission to the park $8 per car, 16.95 per adult, 8.95 per child. There is a concession BEFORE you go to the island where you can rent chairs, umbrellas and snorkel gear and they offer NO REFUNDS so buyer beware.
