“Great choice!”
Reviewed December 30, 2011

We stayed here over the Christmas holiday while visiting family in the area. The condo was immaculately clean, very well-furnished, and comfortable. It had all the amenities of home...dishwasher, dishes & utensils, washer/dryer, etc. The beach view is wonderful! The pools were clean and not crowded (not the tourist season), and the beach itself was well-kept. The hotel staff was super-friendly and helpful. Our only complaint would be that the property is somewhat confusing to get around. Overall, we were very happy with our choice to stay here!

From when you arrive, you can tell that this place is phenomenal. Along with the complimentary valet, you are welcomed by a doorman that will bring your luggage to your room. The decor inside the condo is high quality, modern, and refreshing in comparison to the typical low-quality, tacky tourist decor one is used to in a resort. The condo is spacious and very clean. The kitchen is very large and includes a pantry. The pool is a great temperature no matter the weather. Great activities for the whole family provided by friendly staff. Located in a safe and friendly community, this resort is excellent!

We stayed at this resort July9-16. Since it was the 3rd time for us at this resort I feel I can speak honestly about this location. First time there ws GREAT even though all wasn't opened up and second time was good also.

This time....not so much. The resort has really went downhill since our last stay in '09. The general areas did not seem that clean or kept up and the elevator service was abyssmal! The service workers used the same elevators and guess what....they would actually "bump" you out of the way to push their big ole cart in the elevator and close the doors. We saw many times where they were the only people in an elevator while everyone else waited. They desperately need their own!

Pool area was so so this time. Water cloudy, security super lax. I am talking of gulf front pool. We did not use the one across the road this time.

Parking is odd which I have always thought so. You park across the road--cross over on floor 3 or 4 I can't remember for sure. Either take the elevator or the stairs to the ground floor, go outside a set of doors and then get on the elevator for your floor. Very confusing for us the first time we stayed.

We actually stayed in the same condo this year as the first time and it has went downhill also. In general it seems as if the resort is just not kept up. Starting to show some definite wear.

The resort is kind of split in 2. One side is Wyndham timeshare and the other owner owned through Emerald Beach Resort & Spa.

Value wise it is ok, but I really believe there is much better out there for comparable costs.

This was our first time staying at the Emerald Beach resort and we loved it! We rented a privately owned condo that was very nice and the Emerald Beach complex was great. We had just a slight cleaning issue w/ our condo, but it was taken care of very quickly. Granted there is a lot of up and down (down the elevator, up the escalator) to get to the parking garage across the street, but we only left twice to eat out on our whole trip, so it didn't bother us. I know we didn't stay with Wyndam directly, but encountered their staff on multiple occasions and they were always helpful and friendly. And always CLEANING! The building was always very clean. Never had any issues with coolers or what not as we were beach bums the whole time. They had great activities like a "dive-in" where they showed a family themed outdoor movie at the beach side pool. The only issue we probably had was with the kiddy pool and the heated pool being on the garage side. It was a little daunting to have to haul our young kids (toddlers) down the elevator to the lobby, up the escalator, across the sky bridge then down another escalator, walking right through the busy Wyndam check-in lobby to the pool. Other than that, this place is definitely a resort and we wouldn't think twice about staying here again!

From the looks of the reviews most people had a few problems with the Emerald Beach side as far as rooms go. Both of these resorts are co-located, Emerald Beach to the right, Wydham to the left. The common areas are shared. Yes it true, you can not take a large cooler to the pool area. I was told it's because they did not want to encourage a party like atmosphere at the pool due to close proximity of the first floor rooms. Personally I didn't come to Florida to sit at the pool. You can drink on the beach. I had a studio room, (king size bed, and kitchenette). The room was well appointed and clean, the view of the gulf was fantastic. I agree with the one reviewer about the floors staying clean. I had to sweep a couple time that week. I guess some people also had trouble with the resort layout, I did not; down to the first floor and up the escalator to cross over. There's really not a lot of room on the beach side for everything so check in, parking and the kiddie pool are across the street.

Emerald Beach and Wyndham are on the west end of Panama City Beach, which is less crowded and quite compared to the east end where most of the nightlife and restaurants are located. You are close to Pier Park but wouldn't walk it. I didn't have a vehicle but would recomend one. Taxis and the $10 shuttle get expensive after a while. Overall I'll be back, the beach and water were beautiful, and the locals friendly, and so were the visitors I met. Don't during College Spring Break. It's not a place for the middle aged...LOL

The room and view was great, but the condo building was horrible to get around. Total pain to get to your car across the street. Hated the too small pool that doesnt allow the soft cooler I brought bc it didn't meet a specific size. Stay somewhere else.
