Owner description: Bear Creek Feline Center (BCFC) is home to Florida wildcats and exotic felines located in Panama City, FL. BCFC's mission is one of conservation breeding of selected species, feline rescue/re-homing and public education designed to illuminate the plight of threatened and endangered felines. Much has happened since April 1, 2000, when BCFC was established under the giant oak trees here in the Bear Creek Community. We have logged thousands of hours to obtain five licenses and we now make permanent homes to exotic species of felines including the 3 native species of Florida. We work with the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission, the USDA and the Feline Conservation Federation to preserve and "Protect Florida's Wildlife Treasures". "When was the last time you touched a bobcat or an African Serval?" Tours are by Appointment only. BCFC invites you to an up close and personal visit with our Florida Panthers, North American Bobcats, African Servals, South American Geoffroy's Cats, Jaguarundis and Siberian Lynx. Cameras are encouraged. There are no additional charges for great photo opportunities. You'll see extremely rare felines, not normally seen in captivity. The FFWCC and the USDA permit some hands-on contact. Small children must be CLOSELY supervised at all times. Tours are scheduled BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Please wear long pants and closed-toe shoes for your comfort and safety. A $50 donation per adult is customary ($25 for children under the age of 18). These donations are 100% earmarked for the care and feeding of the big cats. Special tour rates for photo ops, families and student groups upon request. BCFC offers internships whereby selected individuals may gain experience preparatory for the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission's licensing process. You may contact us by email for application and interview. You can check our website for an overview of what you can be doing and learning!

Jim and Bertie Broaddus, the owners, are truly committed to their animals. The enclosures are spacious and are spotless. No stinky cages here! I had the opportunity to enter the Florida panther's enclosure with Jim - it was a real thrill! There are several different varieties of exotic cats here, from lynxes to bobcats to African servals. Every tour group (8 people max) has the opportunity to have direct contact with the African servals. SO cool seeing these magnificent animals up close and personal. It is a very informative and educational tour. It lasts about 1 1/2 hrs. We can't wait to return! TIPS: Bring bug spray. Tour begins at 8 am in the summer, it is about a 45 minute drive from PCB. Kids should be 5+. $50 donation per per person, cash or check ONLY, no credit cards.

OMG. This was not what I was expecting for my wife and two teen boys. It was SO much more. Jim and Bertie are truly ambassadors for felines as I learned more about felines in 2 hours than my 40+ years prior. My wife and boys were blown away at the cleanliness of the facility and the sheer effort it must take to maintain these beautiful cats. We talked on the drive back home about what working with a passion can overcome. The hospitality they display to literally open their home to others is remarkable. They are special people and have created a special place.

Jim and Bertie do a great job of mixing southern hospitality with a truly unique experience. You leave there having made new friends and feeling very connected to their lovely cats. Their cats number 24 currently and consist of several species including the Florida panther, western mountain lion, rare Argentinean breeds of names too hard to spell, bobcats, African servals, etc. You get a hands on experience getting to pet or interact with many of the cats. But in the case you don't touch the cat, you are still feet away from a rare wild animal for beautiful pictures and memories. Basically, if this was run by a company looking to make money like Seaworld etc, you would pay triple the price for a third less hands on time. Please go if you have any interest in wildlife up close and personal.

It was catered to us. Very personal and educational. They care about the animals and help you to know the personal story behind every animal. It is obvious they care about the cats and the cats care about them. This is an experience you will not get at a zoo.

My wife and I found Bear Creek Feline Center while browsing for things to do while in the Panama City area and, as cat lovers, we knew we had to check it out. We were definitely captivated by the experience. Jim and Bertie turned out to be truly incredible people, whose love for their cats and dedication to educating others is honestly inspiring. They quite literally open their home to groups of guests to share encounters with the various exotic cats which live on the grounds, asking only for a donation to support their feline friends. I have already recommended the experience to several people and will certainly continue to do so. What an excellent experience this was!
