“Small, but excellent local museum.”
Reviewed December 31, 2012

This small museum has an excellent collection of all forms of underwater apparatus, scuba dive gear, subs, sensor systems, etc., and showcases items from at least 10 countries.

I liked the history section, where visitors learn how diving (and diving gear) has evolved over the centuries. The presentation on cave diving was also fascinating. Though small, this museum is definitely worth a visit if you're in the Panama City Beach area. There is a small gift shop and a collection of books on diving and the like as well.

“Great for history lovers!”

Highly recommended! Worth the few dollars it cost! A nice break from the sand and sun.

“valuable resource”
Reviewed October 26, 2012

This museum is attempting to preserve artifacts from the history of diving. If they weren't, these items may have been piling up in salvage yards or even discarded. For those interested in deep sea diving as a career or hobby, or those interested in the science and adventure aspect of the development of saturation diving, this is worth the trip to Panama City Beach. It also showcases the heroes whose efforts lacked the notice they deserved because the media was focused on the space program. Before going you may want to read "Sealab" by Ben Hellwarth, and "Sea Dwellers" by Bob Barth. You will certainly want to read them after touring the museum.
