The water view from the outside deck an Angelo & Sons can be beautiful at sunset, but the summer heat and bugs can quickly drive you to go inside. I'm just afraid of the little buggers getting into my food there. I ordered the stuffed pompano (about $20) which was was fresh and tasty, but it almost seemed to be more stuffing than actual fish meat and the stuffing tasted a bit over seasoned overpowering the fish. The gumbo was pretty good, but personally, (even with a fish base gumbo) I don't want it to taste fishy (if that makes any sense). It also lacked identifiable chunky components. As with a lot of seafood businesses, ordering "the special" of the day can be risky, as often managers use the "specials" to move a product. Service was adequate.but certainly not stellar. The restaurant is nice and clean as are the restrooms.
I am a dog lover, but there were some smelly dogs hanging out on the porch which would have been fine except I just had to go wash my hands after petting them (my mistake assuming they were clean). I liked Angelo's and will visit again and maybe even sit outside in a cooler, less buggy time of year.
