“Couples trip for 12”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

We just finished our 4th annual couples trip. 6 couples-- the guys golf and the girls beach, exercise, spa, drink. We always get two 3 BR condos ocean front. After a little mix up with the check in, we were fine. The guys love the golf and you cannot get a better beach experience. You can swim at this beach. We usually stock the fridges with liquor at the local stores as well as snacks and breakfast food and go out to dinner and lunch daily. The main restaurant at the resort is our go to for one night's dinner and the girls have lunch there once or twice during our 4 night stay. There are lots of other restaurants a short drive from the resort. We also really like the little wine shop nearby that has music and wine tastings. And JT's the local fish place for a casual lunch. Spa is good and relaxing; classes at the gym are fun and well run. We will be back. There was definitely a problem with the cable and TV's while we were there which was a problem as we are all hockey fans, but we got one TV working (out of 6) so we could watch. There are also a bunch of pools, but mostly for families/kids. Although we do one annual trip around the lazy river. If the weather is good, you can't beat this place. We fly in from Chicago and it is a quick trip (plus about 1.5 hour drive from Jacksonville).

Room Tip: I like the Ocean Fronts. Front row to a wedding every weekend.

We arrived to the Hammock, sat at check in, received our keys and the lady says "oh and you got the email that the main pools are closed for spring cleaning right?" Are you kidding me???? We sure didn't. And not only that but we spoke to te resort a day prior and paid for a room upgrade-no mention of it. The main reason we came is bc the pools are huge, there is a great lazy river and you can really relax. We asked for a manager who gave us a refund ... But still, we drove 3hours to get this terrible news. The manager was ok but the check in lady was unsympathetic and not helpful. Big disappointment from this resort.

I just stayed there with 30 others on our yearly golf trip May 1st-May 4th. Cannot say enough about the golf, first class, food in the Atlantic Grille was very good, breakfast buffet recommended. Our stay started out great, rooms were ready for all of us we were greeted and checked in by a nice woman named Amanda, very professional and efficient which was nice since we were heading right out to the golf course. We were met at the course by Jacob a nice young man who took care of our carts and bags, little did we know those two would be the exception, not the norm. We had no tv when we went to the room after golf,we called the front desk and were told that the guy would be there to fix it in "15 minutes". After several calls he never showed. He finally showed the next night,George was courteous and fixed our problem we thought. Now the tv's in the bedrooms were out and we only had QVC and a Spanish station which is not a big help when you have four guys that want to watch NBA and NHL playoffs. We called again and after numerous times of being lied to we gave up. The people at the front desk did not understand that they were in the hospitality industry. Part of the reason we selected Hammock Beach is that in previous years we have been to two other Salamander Resorts,Innisbrook in Tampa and Reunion in Orlando,at both we were treated very very well and were happy to go to another Salamander Resort. After our second round of golf we retreated to the Atlantic Grille for a round of drinks,I purchased a round of drinks for over 50.00 and was met with no acknowledgment or eye contact let alone a thank you,I tipped accordingly. To top things off the next morning at breakfast my friend asked for some ketchup and a young man named Anthony replied "It's on the buffet you can get it yourself". By now we were not suprised at his response all we could do was laugh and promise to take our 30 person golf trip somewhere else next year

The Hammock Beach Resort is one of the MAIN reasons....It is just the right distance for a great getaway. The property seems to suit seamlessly to family's, young and senior couples, golfers, beach goers...The staff was prompt and attentive. As always best to read up on any property to make your first minutes easiest. After watching several foursomes of golf ending on the 18th green from our Room 5 Balcony, I no longer think I'm the worst golfer in the world....

we have been going to HB for New Years with 4 couples and renting a 4 br suite. Each year we've gotten 1 of 2 that are available to rent directly in the center of the hotel....most of the others are owner owned and not available to rent. This year I took our family.....2 of my kids, their spouses, and each had 2 children. We didn't get one of the two directly in the center which have large walk in closets where we could have set up a couple of cribs for the young ones. We did get a 4 br but no walk in closets.....so my wife and I had to rent a separate room for us and we gave the 4 br to the families.
The golf is great with 2 possible courses owned by the hotel.....a little pricey $149 before 1:30 and then it drops to $99.....after 3:30 it was $59. The Ocean course is beautiful with numerous holes on the ocean.
They have, I think, 5 pools. It's a great family place and the pools were great.....including a water slide, a separate pool with a sand beach adjacent for the kids to play in the sand and head for the water. The pool with the water slide was very warm water....great for the kids.
The resort has a few different restaurants. What the resort lacked was a playground for the kids. Some of the organized kids activities required a fee. Should have been free.
The hotel is right on the ocean and easy access to the beach which offers plenty of coastline to walk.
Overall....a very nice place with very accomodative staff. We will return.

We were here for a week during and after Easter. We were so pleased with the hotel, pool, fitness center and beach! Staff was wonderful and helpful. We stayed in one bedroom condo in main tower facing the ocean with our 2 kids. Plenty of room. Large bathroom and loved having 2 T.V.s (although they were a little outdated). Our girls LOVED the pools and water slide. So much fun! There are plenty of great restaurants around the area especially in Flager Beach. We also went to Daytona and St. Augustine for a day and had a great time. One recommendation we would have is that they need better music at the pool. More up beat and current. Also, not all pools have music. Another small issue was the fire alarm kept going off on our last day. Assuming this was a minor glitch we hope we don't have to deal with this in the future. I read previous reviews and cannot comprehend why one would not absolutely love this resort. It was one of our favorites and I am super picky!! We will definitely return next year!!

This isn't priced as a 5 star resort, so I won't review as such. It's darn close to being 5 star though! We stayed in the main building, rooms were very outdated. That didn't bother me for the price we paid. We were in large 1 bedroom accommodations with a gorgeous view. The walk to the aquatic area is tedious. You're cursing if you forget something yet trying not to bring too much to haul! They do not allow any outside food or drinks at the pool area. For this level resort I find shocking, since even disney's deluxe resorts allow coolers. It gets expensive fast to spend days at the pool for a family of 4. I'd rather have the option to bring some drinks and snacks, even a light lunch. I realize some guests may abuse this but overall I think letting people bring some of their own items to the pool especially when that's what we do all vacation would be a HUGe PLUS. The aquatic area really is spectacular with a family pool/slide/lazy river, adult pool, beach pool with zero entrance, and of course natures pool the Atlantic Ocean!
