Hammock Beach Resort
Ranked #4 of 11 Hotels in Palm Coast

We stayed at the Hammock Beach Resort for 4 days. The pool complex is well maintained and everybody working at the resort is extremely helpful. We also played golf at the Ocean Course, and while it's very pricey, the course is absolutely beautiful. Only one of the main restaurants was open daily but we really liked the food- especially breakfast, which was actually a pretty good value. Dinner was good, but pricey.

We stayed at the Lodge building (which is located over the seafood restaurant) and while the view was great, the room itself was just ok. Rooms are very clean but Tv's are old and we had a couple of mechanical problems in the room. Rugs in the room could also use replacement.

Room Tip: If you are planning to stay at the Lodge, try to avoid staying in Room 1. It is located over the go...

We had read that the service charge, which in our case was $37.98 per night for a 3 bedroom suite, covered gratuities, yet within an hour of our arrival, an employee told us that their wages had been cut three times in the past couple of years and that they depended on gratuities. From then on we commenced to tip moderately (the service overall was good) but resented the service charges when we checked out.

We also question the resort's practice of charging 2/3rd of our total room bill to Visa two weeks before our arrival. 1/3rd had been charged when I made the reservation back in June, but that had been made clear the time.

Room Tip: For an excellent view, the higher the better.

I'll keep this one short and sweet. We spent one night, February 16, for a little romantic post-V Day weekend. I don't recall our room number but we were in one of the towers. Room was large, comfortable, and had a nice view of the ocean and golf course. The decor was the Tommy Bahama Style, so if you are into that sort of thing, you'll love it. Staff was very friendly. The benefit of this resort is that it is self-contained. If you want to stay here and forget the car, you can. Or you can get in the car and venture 25 minutes north to St. Augustine or 20 minutes south to Flagler Beach. Service at the resort was a little slow at the restaurant and cigar bar, but friendly and pleasant. We enjoyed this place and would highly recommend it for a weekend stay at the beach.

My husband and I stayed in the main tower at the Hammock Beach Resort for three nights. Our room, which faced the ocean, was very roomy with a nice sitting area and large bathroom, however, it was quite outdated. Old TVs, heavy wood built ins, older bedding, etc...But, things were very clean. We ate at the resort on our first evening at the Atlantic Grill. It was average. Menu was limited and old. Since we were there in the off season, everything was empty: the pool, the bar, the beach, the restaurants. I agree with the review that mentioned the issue between guests and members. Guests were clearly not as important as members. The girls in the spa were wonderful and friendly, but it was definitely not a 4 star spa as the facilities were a bit tired, as well. Not sure we would return.

Would rate a 3.5 star if able to. First the good which really is the excellent. Staff were extremely courteous and helpful at every turn. Valet always asked if we needed directions..where we were from..etc. Concierge very helpful. Tea and coffee available each afternoon. Ocean view rooms awesome view. Rooms very large and beautfily decorated. A little dark with lots of wood. Bathrooms very large with double sink and large shower along with whirlpool bath separate. Housekeeping and cleanliness top notch. Food at the Grill near golf course was excellent as was the view. Didnt play golf but course looked 1st class. Location in a very quiet section right between St Augustine and Daytona Beach.

Cons:
Rooms...had 2 ancient Tv's dont think either was bigger then 19 inches. No checkout on TV. Hot water and AC system in the bedroom closet and very noisy.

Biggest downside was fact guest made feel like 2nd class citizens to members( who I assume are condo and home owners). Couple of days we were there they had from 2-4pm cookies..sandwiches and various other items in lobby....with big sign for members only. My wife thought being a guest meant being a member and was scolded when she took a cookie. Areas of resort where guest arent allowed only for members. Other downside was many places , things that you pay for in rate ,were closed...Italian restaurant closed all but 1 of 4 days we were there...Ice cream shop and rapids at pool were closed...beach chairs very old and dirty.

Went with wife for 4 nights and resort occupancy was very low due to slow time of year. Would have been very disappointed if had kids and they wanted to use the rapids and kids pool. I would return but with expectations that guests and members are two different classes of people

Room Tip: Ocean view well worth the xtra few dollars

The location of the resort and the friendliness of the people will make your stay very enjoyable. Ask for a room in the Lodge, not the main tower. We had room 13 which is a corner room on the beach above the restaurant and pro shop. The food at the Atlantic Grill was very good and not over priced.I took a yoga class, went to the fitness center and took long walks on the beach and my husband played golf. It would have been nice to have warmer weather, but then the rates would have been higher. Not much around the resort. Recommend going to the Golden Lion in Flagler Beach for lunch and to St Augustine for dinner at the Collage.

Stayed at this hotel in a room that was a 3 bedroom condo. A great place to stay with all the amenities you could ask for right there on the grounds.
Conference rooms were well lit, and the business buffets were simply excellent.
They have a great front desk staff, and arranged transportation for us back to the Daytona airport.
Golf course on the property, volleyball on the beach, and a very large property to walk. Everything is very well taken care of. The size of the hotel is simply HUGE.
I also want to note the exercise room, a large room with free weights, treadmills, and various nautilus machines. Perfect for fitness buffs.
If workouts is not your bag, you can walk the beach for as far as you can see.
Two thumbs up!

Room Tip: Each room comes with a balcony with an ocean view.
