I don't really like to stay in chain motels if I can help it. However the independents that I stay in have to be clean and well kept. Palm Coast Villas meet these qualifications and more. From the reception desk, where we were offered some key lime pie, to checkout we were not disappointed. The place has history, beauty, charm, and personality. A trip back in time to a gentler time. You won't be disappointed, and I will be back.

This is such a unique old style motel with lush vegatation, we were so plesantly surprised when we pulled in the property. The old part of the hotel was built in the 1930's and has the coquina rock walls inside and out, how beautiful. We were there for a ladies retreat and we all said we can't wait to bring the husbands back, it would be great for a romantic trip. We had a room with a queen bed and a twin. There was a fridge and microwave. All of the staff were so friendly and accommodating. There were so many places to walk and sit outside and the short walk to the intercoastal. You could walk across the street to the Publix. We weren't aware of the breakfast so we brought things, but did go down and have coffee and juice. The price was VERY reasonable. They did have a few machines in the fitness room, a small meeting room and a large beautiful pool.

Room Tip: Some rooms do have a two burner stove, and there is a new part that does not have coquina rock walls...

For nearly 15 years we have been passing the Palm Coast Villas on our way to Flagler Beach, saying how charming they looked. Finally, we had an extra day and decided to give it a try. Since it was spur of the moment, we hadn't looked at Trip Advisor reviews.

The motel looks a bit old fashioned from the road, so my sister and I thought we'd ask to see a room first. Well, one look at the lovely and immaculate lobby/office assured us that we would be ok just by checking in. And the room rates were astonishingly reasonable ($89 for a double, weekend night). We were in one of the new buildings on the 5-acre property and a lovely room it was.

The double we were given had a dividing wall between the two beds, providing a degree of privacy and sound mitigation and yet allowing both sides to watch the television if so desired. The decor was lovely and the room was furnished with a microwave and small refridgerator (some rooms have a more complete mini-kitchen).

There is a short, easily navigated walk to the river behind the villas and the landscape is dotted with nooks and seating where one can enjoy the outdoors. The pool is large and well kept. We were told the location is less than a mile from the ocean.

We had one small problem with lack of hot water and thereby discovered that each room has it's own on-demand hot water (clearly something was wrong with ours). We were offered a room switch without hesitation, although we didn't take it due to being settled after a 10 hour drive and not wishing to pack up and move. This, of course, is the kind of thing that can happen anywhere and didn't influence our good opinion one bit.

The 'continental breakfast' is a bit of a letdown in that it consists of coffee, orange juice and pre-packaged pastry/bread. This was the only true flaw and it would be better if they just said that juice and coffee were available and skipped calling it 'breakfast.'

That aside, we had a wonderful stay, were well treated and both of us are planning on coming back with our husbands later this year. Indeed, we were so glad we stopped!

Room Tip: If you have mobility problems and are in one of the new buildings, be sure to get a ground floor roo...

I have been coming back to Palm Coast Villas for some time now, and it just gets better for what we want. Right off of A!A and it feels like you are off the beaten path, a Publix grocery store across the street but you would not know it. A nature trail to the intracoastal just behind the Villa. They provide fishing pole, bicycles, and beach chairs. A nice place tucked out of the way with very nice rooms. And the employees are very personable. WE LOVE THIS PLACE !!!!! My family and I were only able to stay one night but would have liked to stay longer. If you're looking for fancy rooms, an indoor pool and hot breakfasts, this isn't for you. If you want a place with character that's reminescent of "old Florida" Palm Coast Villas is your place.. The room had an odd odor, not unpleasant, but different. The pool is fairly small and needed to be vacumed but the wasn't bad. The trail in the back of the property winds through the woods to the Intercoastal Waterway. The public beach access is about a 10 minute walk away and the beach there is real pretty. Our room had 2 large beds, a microwave and frige and was $68.00 with tax.
Flagler Beach is about 20 minutes south and the Golden Lion is a good place for seafood.

Room Tip: Room 6 was near the road but we didn't hear any road noise.

We planned to stay only one night but liked it so much we stayed another night. The Coquina walls inside were very interesting. The host did everything he could to make us feel happy and comfortable. The location is ideal. We enjoyed our stay immeasurably. We plan to go back again mid June. The walk through the hammock to the intercoastal was delightful. The short drive to a magnificant beach was well worth the trip. Went to St. Augustine early one morning and enjoyed it so much. Next time we plan to visit the Lighthouse there and the Matanzas inlet. So much to see and do. Relaxing and beautiful. Glad we found this AAA place. One complaint though, they do not enforce Florida State Laws regarding the use of their pool. A couple had two dogs inside the pool area and one pooped and they didn't clean it up, in fact, they had the dog in the pool with them. Not nice! And my husband found glass beer bottles the next morning on the grass outside the pool. Other dogs were seen in the pool area also. Not a good plan, they could get fined. The guests should be more respectbul of other guests too!!!! Otherwise though it was a great place to stay, we can't wait to go back.
