Palm Beach Shores Resort & Vacation Villas
Reviewed September 10, 2005

First, let me start out by saying that the other reviewers are not familiar with the area where this hotel is located. Let me explain in detail. This hotel is located on Singer Island--a barrier island north of Palm Beach (Island) and south of Jupiter Island. I lived there for over 20 years of my life and recently returned to visit family still in the area. This hotel is located in a sleepy little town called Palm Beach Shores on Singer Island. Yes, the mainland has it's problems, but the island and the waterfront is going through a major transformation. The older hotels are now in the process of being knocked down and ultra high-end condos are now being built. There is a lot of construction going on the waterfront. This however, was not a nuisance to the hotel, as it is not occuring on site. The public beach (which is rarely used by the locals) is just north adjacent to the hotel. The beach is one of the most beautiful along the S Fla coastline. Enjoy it while it lasts, people....the City of Riviera Beach is planning on taking away most of the public access to it. If you want shoppes, restaurants, etc. just travel north along A1A & you will arrive in Palm Beach Gardens/Juno Beach area. The Gardens Mall is a mere 5 minutes away with Saks, Bloomies, and soon Nordstroms. It is one of the nicest and upscale malls in South Florida. Oakbrook Square is also a nice outdoor shopping centre with several nice restaurants, and a very nice grocery store. You will not have a problem finding fine dining or a casual bite to eat if you wish. I would recommend this hotel to families, retirees, and people who wish to have comfortable, affordable accommodations. Yes, it is a timeshare resort, but I believe the rooms that the timeshare people are probably not as tidy or updated as the ones that are occupied by the regular vacationer. Enjoy the Florida warm Florida sun, relax, kick back and just think of all the people back home that wish they were there with you instead of working back north or shoveling snow.

My family just returned from a week long stay at the Palm Beach Shores and we would definitely return there. I was a little weary after reading some of the reviews, but we had no problems whatsoever. First of all, you know it's a timeshare resort, so if you don't like timeshare tours then don't go on one. The only sales pitches we heard all week were two friendly messages on our answering machine our first two days. I didn't return the calls and they never called again. Secondly, this is a beach area, not Beverly Hills. The immediate area is full of casual dining and gift shops. Nothing exciting, but certainly not the ghetto that one person described it as. We felt perfectly fine walking around the hotel area, there were always lots of other people around. The room itself was nothing spectacular, but it was fairly spacious for a one bedroom and clean. The pool was great, it was never too crowded and the beach was gorgeous. We never rented chairs or an umbrella, we just layed our stuff in the sand and nobody bothered us. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. All in all, a great vacation. Highly recommended.

We just returned from a week at the Palm Beach Shores. The address is somewhat misleading since you think you will be in the middle of the famous Palm Beach. In all actuality you are located on Singer Island surrounded by mostly residential condos. The area is not what I would consider "unsafe", but less desirelable. A mile in either direction can take you somewhere beautiful, or somewhere really run down. Just don't expect a "disney like" atmosphere. The hotel however is very pretty and tropical. We found the staff to be very anxious to please. The only pitch for timeshare came in the form of a voicemail on our phone, which we ignored. The rooms are roomy and nice. The grounds are clean, and the beach picturesque. the "pay as you lay" policy of renting a lounge chair/umbrella was expensive and really annoying, but we dealt with it. The guests were a real mix. The pool has retirees in the early morning with their coffee and newspapers, followed by the young families with floaties and goggles late morning, and joining them in the early afternoon were the twenty-thirty somethings with the opening of the tiki bar, which is where the fortysomethings hung out at night. We noticed that if you were a "honeymooner" or a couple looking for a romantic spot, this might not be the ideal place to go. Seriously though, we live close to Cape Cod and have stayed in alot of lovely hotels on beaches and this was one of the best. Now if we could only get them to move a couple of blocks.....

We stayed at Palm Beach Shores from July 17th-23rd. I think the most important thing to understand before going to this place is that it IS a timeshare resort. There are a bunch of salespeople around and you'll see a lot of vacationers going on 'tours' and such of the area. We went in knowing this and expecting sales pitches, so it wasn't a big deal at all. Actually, the only time we were pitched anything was during check-in (trying to get us to pay for a sales breakfast pitch) and the first day (a phone message and paper slipped under our door in the morning.) We just ignored those things and weren't bothered the rest of the week. The hotel itself is a little shabby and could definitely use some renovations, but our suite was very nice. We lucked out because we got a top-floor ocean/pool view, which was fantastic. The suite was incredibly spacious and clean. As others mentioned, the beach is really beautiful. We bypassed the expensive lounge chairs they were renting on the beach and just brought our own towels and umbrellas---and they didn't bother us about it at all. The pool was crowded during the afternoons and nights, but if you got up around 8am or so, it was completely deserted. There were lots of kids in the pool, so be warned. I did see sand/debris/food in and around the pool by the end of the day(s). The Tiki Bar was also a nice touch and the drinks were decent. Overall, this place was pretty good. The immediate surrounding location was not that great--very shabby---but if you just drive a half hour to west palm beach there are some really nice areas and some great shopping/food. We had an enjoyable time!
