Sunshine Shores Resort
Reviewed September 9, 2013

Stayed at Sunshine Shores Resort for a long weekend and it was like being back (retro) at my parents house with the tile and facade circa 1960's. The whole place was spotless and well cared for and all the appliances were functional. There was no central air but the wall unit was more than adequate to cool the apartment.. Derek was very accommodating.
Would stay here again. Great value for the location.

My wife and I have vacationed in Palm Beach Shores on Singer Island off and on for many years. During this time we tried a half dozen or so different accommodations. But when we discovered Sunshine Shores Resort we stopped looking any further. This is where we've stayed for the past 5 or 6 years, often twice each year, usually once in the summer and once in winter. What do we like about it? The buildings and grounds are very well maintained. The units are complete apartments, very clean and tastefully appointed with full kitchen and everything you need for cooking. The king size bed is very comfy. There is a pool with lounge chairs around it, but the lush garden with the tidy patio is our favorite outdoor location. There are a couple of tables, each with a large parasol and there's a gas grill at your disposal. Walk to the Grator Gator convenience store, get a bottle of wine and a couple of steaks, slap 'em on the grill and you're in heaven. The lifeguarded beach is a leisurely 5 minute stroll along a quiet street past the town playground. If you like to watch the sunrise in the summer, there's a better than even chance you'll see sea turtle hatchlings making their way to the surf. Walk to the marina, catch a water shuttle and spend a day on Peanut Island. And don't cheat yourself by missing an early evening stroll along Inlet Park and back along the pedestrian boulevard which almost doubles as a botanical garden. Derek the manager is always attentive and helpful should you have any questions.

We stayed at this small resort while diving the nearby Phil Foster Park site. The clean apartment had everything to make our stay comfortable, and all of the appliances functioned well. There is a place to rinse your dive gear and a line to dry wetsuits. The friendly owners/managers are on the site, which is nicely landscaped and in a quiet neighborhood. It is within walking distance of several restaurants and the beach. We will stay there again.

We cam to Palm beach to dive, and this was recommended. Derek was really helpful in organizing the rooms, and was there to meet us when we arrived. The little apartment had a nice kitchen, and was clean and comfortable. We BBQ'd most nights in the courtyard downstairs, had our own parking place, and walked to the beach. Its in a nice, quiet neighborhood, too. We'll definitely stay there again.

This is a great B&B-type place on Singer Island...steps away from your own pool, and located just across the street from the beach. Derek and the staff are always on site, or within minutes to lend a helping hand. Located in the sleepy neighborhood of Palm Beach Shores, the resort is conveniently located to all local attractions. You don't need a car to enjoy your stay. You can walk to the Riviera Beach Ocean Front mall, which has a few restaurants, shopping, and ice cream. There is also the Grator Gator grocery market to get supplies.

However, if you have a car, clearly you can spread your wings and enjoy surrounding attractions of the island. Just getting to the Publix over the Blue Heron bridge would offer some relief from "island prices" on grocery items. Therefore you can enjoy your own cookout in the quaint, yet luscious courtyard (feels like a mini rainforest!).. The courtyard is a great way to relax out of the sun as well. There is plenty to do on the island, and there's a local Dive & Surf shop called Pura Vida that supplies rental equipment and surf apparel. You can visit MacArthur State Park, Sailfish Marina, Peanut Island or even snorkeling at Phil Foster Park.. Oceanside Beach services provides great beach sports, etc.

Whether it is a short or long-term stay, I highly recommend Singer Island in general, and Sunshine Shores for your vacation headquarters while visiting... Great place, great people.

Sunshine Shores was our first choice after staying at the rather crowded and noisy Palm Beach Shores resort just a block or two away on Singer Island. If you prefer quiet over noisy and occasionally in-your-face large hotels, then you should consider this place. You get a kitchen with a stove, a full-size refrigerator and microwave oven, a living room, one bedroom and one bathroom for around $100/night, which is not a bad deal. The bedroom and living room have ceiling fans, for those who prefer a breeze. The courtyard is very nicely appointed with a couple of tables for four with umbrellas and a gas grill for those who like to cook out, as I do. Everything about the place is clean and it feels like a nice home away from home. The manager, Derek, is a great guy who was very helpful to us when we made the reservation and arrived at the hotel. Sunshine Shores is just one block off the beach, so you can walk just a short distance through one of the hotels or through the public access to get there.

The only issue I had is with the A/C in the bedroom. There is a window unit that does a fine job of cooling the entire suite, but I found that it was a bit loud and the cycling on and off during the night interrupted my sleep, so we got around the problem by cooling the room down just before bed, closing the door and setting the ceiling fan on a higher speed...problem solved and we slept like babies!

It was really nice to be able to save money by cooking our own meals and hanging out on the courtyard at night. My wife and I prefer this to spending loads of money at restaurants with high prices and questionable service, which is the norm for Memorial Day weekend. I would definitely recommend staying here if you like a more intimate setting over the large hotels.

Room Tip: We stayed in room B, which is on the bottom level (no stairs) and right next to the gas grill (I lov...
