“Golf Vacation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 5, 2013

We spent a 4 day golf vacation here and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The golf courses and staff were all above average. We also took advantage of the pools and exercise facilities. The restaurants and lounge areas were excellent as well. We would all come back again without question.

Has been nearly a year since I have spent time at PGA National. I prefer the golf experience here over almost any other domestic resort trip I have taken. I was floored by the changes to the resort. The lobby was the first hint that things had been upgraded, with new finishes in many of the public locations including a fantastic product in the elevator. I had booked a Junior Suite and it was completely upgraded, new rooms, fantastic colors, televisions, bar area, and everything looked great. Then I played the courses, the Fazio has been completely redone and is my favorite, the greens were incredible. Played the Champ for a PGA tournament golf experience and it still tests every part of your game. Play the right tees and you will have a great time. I won't wait over a year to come back.

I stayed at PGA last week for a corporate event and while I did not think that the hotel itself was anything special, it was an enjoyable stay. The best think about PGA is the staff and of course the golf (I do not play). I blew a fuse in my room and was told you cannot use the coffee pot and hair dyer at the same time or the fuse goes and all the lights go out...not fun when you are in a hurry getting dressed in the morning for presentations that you cannot be late to. Oddly, there were also not enough bathrooms in public areas and I spent more time then I would have liked walking to the ladies room or waiting in lines. It was a small detail that made my stay less pleasant. Overall this is a nice place, but at this price point there are some details that need to be tended to.

With 5 different courses to chose from you are bound to enjoy your golf trip. They all play differently, and the signature Champions course is truly something special.
It is great to be able to walk out of your room and onto the course. There is 1 course 7 miles away and it is worth playing.
The restaurant there is also excellent (Ironwood) and they were always able to accomodate our large group of 10 guys. And the I-Bar is a great place to meet for dinks, inside and out.

**** take advantage of the coupons in the passport they give you at check in. You can save a bundle on alcohol, especially with a large group.

In between rounds the pool is a great place to chill out. And the restaurant at the pool offers a better menu than the one at the "19th hole".

This was my second golf trip at PGA National and I will definitely return.

Room Tip: there is no "bad" room, only bad room mates that snore. if you are part of a group then ch...

Nice facility...clean rooms and helpful staff. The golf/pro shop employees, courses and practice facilities were great! If you are a pool person, best to pay a small fee for the "Waters of the World" pools that are part of the spa than the "main pool" at the hotel...it is quiet and has more attentive & personal service...and you can use the spa steam/sauna/shower facility, too. The spa services were top-notch, I had a massage and facial - and even got a haircut...talented, experienced and professional staff at the spa. The lobby bar is a great place to people watch and grab a bite to eat. The Ironwood Restaurant was excellent. The difference at this hotel vs. others is the friendly staff! From eager-to-please housekeeping to Roosevelt (the smiling pool attendant), from the server that presented our bread basket in Ironwood with more flare than I've ever seen - to the helpful conceirge - the people definitely made the difference here! We had a room on the 4th floor overlooking the main pool which was peaceful and private. Seems like there are a lot of conferences/meetings going on at the hotel...but as non-business travelers to this destination...we never felt crowded out by the attendees - on the contrary, we felt like we had the entire facility to ourselves! It's definitely not of the level of a Ritz or Four Seasons, even with the recent renovation...but for the location, golf courses, spa facility, proximity to West Palm Beach...it was a great value.

I attended a meeting at this hotel and I was really impressed with how beautiful the hotel, the restaurants and the grounds were. All of the staff members that we encountered were pleasant and very helpful. Berlin in the restaurant was particularly helpful with special food needs. We will be back to spend more time here!

The whole place feels brand new, carpet, restaurants, even the golf courses were redone. Lobby bar is cool and steakhouse is great. Champions course is in better shape than Pebble, Doral, and St. Andrews. Staff is very friendy, feels like a Four Seasons. Rooms are average in size but clean and the remodel has a good design (lighting, outlets, etc).
